they proved on Mythbusters that it is actually a 50/50 shot no matter what.. with or without butter it can land on either side.

That's not entirely true. Scientific studies have found that the probability of a dropped piece of toast landing butter side down is directly proportional to the value of the carpet.

Wether you are holding the toast in your hand or carry it upon a plate, one edge of the toast departs from the supporting surface first. When the toast has turned to a vertical position, its rotational momentum or centrifugal force of turning carries it to a complete turn. The shot fall time is enough for a 180 degree turn and that is buttered side down.

buttered toast always lands on the buttered side because the weight of the actual butter draws that side closer to the floor due to gravity. I suggest buttering both sides that way if it does fall on the floor the other side is still salvagable.

i read a book explaining this exact phenomenon. the reason is that when toast falls from a plate, the tipping off the edge gives it a rotation. and it's falling from a height such that it will only make 1/2 a turn before it reaches the floor.... and since it's usually butter-up on the plate, it gets to the floor butter-down

What if you staple a buttered piece of bread butter side up on the back of a cat and then drop it?

Mine always lands buttered side up, guess murphy just plain hates your guts. Either that or you are just the statistical fluke that averages me out so that between us its a 50/50 thing.
(If the latter, then I thank you)

because the butter weighs the toast down ans when the gravity pull s it down the heaviest side faces the ground

Because all toast is related to cats. They both land bottom side down.
