When researching about mixed emotions people have for squirrels, I have found that people who love squirrels know a lot about them. This includes people who have been close to squirrels, nursed them as babies, or studied them in books. Likewise, people who hate squirrels know nothing, often accusing squirrels of spreading rabies and other diseases when they do not. Squirrel haters also think all kinds of negative lies about squirrels. I suppose another way of asking my question would be: Why do squirrel haters prefer ignorance over researched information?

Did you really mean our survival over the next 100 years depends on getting off this planet and establishing space colonies, or did you state that out of frustration?
If colonization were not possible, what would your solution to the here and now be?
I would really be interested in hearing how you came those conclusions and what your current solutions are.....thx
