Not necessarily, but they occur most frequently there and tend to be more powerful. I read that it has something to do with the jetstream of the atmoshpere and that the midwest is very flat and has no mountains to "break up" the weather systems.

Tornadoes do occur in other parts of the world, but are often called by other names. I believe they are called "sand devils" in desert lands...not sure about anywhere else, though.

No. Tornadoes can happen a lot of places. There was even one in Salt Lake City in the middle of the mountains about 6 years ago. There just have to be the right weather conditions, which are most likely to occur in flat places like the midwest.

Tornadoes are more dependent on the weather conditions being right than the location. They occur throughout the world, not just the mid-west. About 2 years ago there was a tornado that did considerable damage to a suburb of Philadelphia. They occur wherever the conditions are correct.

Tornados can ensue everywhere yet are extremely uncommon. they have a tendency to go back from Supercell thunderstorms, that are below a million% of entire thunderstorms (IIRC), and in basic terms a million in 6 supercells produce tornados. Of tornados, very few are the great F4 (a million.a million%) or F5 (0.a million%) kind. The accepted plains of the U. S. have a tendency to have the circumstances maximum favorable to advance those phenomena extra regularly than everywhere else, notwithstanding the Canadian accepted plains may also get them later in the season because the Jet circulation strikes north. lower than is a list of tornadoes. The earliest recorded ecu twister became in 1054 in eire. there is yet another link about supercell thunderstorms.

No, we can get them up here in the northwest sometimes, but they hit a hill and jump away. The midwest is just flat enough they last longer.
