It seems to me that if the definition of dinosaurs was scientifically based then elephants, hippopotamus, and possibly some other large land mamals would be classified as dinosaurs. Perhaps someone can help me understand what is the basis of the definition of dinosaurs. To say that extinction is one of the defining attributes is not a biological criteria.

What is the difference between the Earth's atmosphere and that of other planets (Mercury, Pluto, Mars, Venus) that humans don't make "blopp".
Seriously. I mean, on what gases is a human dependant to survive for at least .. say ...0.001 second? On whitch of those planets you can say that there is no vacuum? And what role plays density for that matter?

I water it with rainwater and try my best to keep it damp, (Sits on a damp sponge) but after 2 months it's started wilting and losing some of its traps. The label says it likes sunlight, so I put it on a East facing windowsill to catch the sun in the morning. Could this be too much for it?

Thanks! :o)

I'm moving from NY to AZ and needed to know about this subject. I have worked in a high rise building in NYC for three years and I have my New York CFC license. Will a license or experience help me? I'm only 26, love the industry, and can't wait to get there to start work.

Okay here's why I asked this: I've been enjoying catching and releasing turtles since I was a little girl. My friends, family and I started a tradition wear we'd paint their plastrons with unique symbols made from nail polish, so we'd recognize them if we'd catch 'em again. Some markings last longer than others. Besides natural wear, I figured that some lasted longer than others because if the turtle was still growing bigger, it's shell would get bigger and stretch the nail polish making it crack off. This one Blanding's turtle we've been catching for over the past five years and his markings are still there! He's obviously done growing. But there's this one little painted turtle I caught this year that's no bigger than it was last year, and the marking looked as new as it did last year. But the turtle looked pretty little and looked like it should have grown some. Maybe it's a "midget" turtle?

I was eating raspberries today and I started thinking aobut how I had heard they were aggregate fruit. A simple fruit is one from an ovary with only one pistil. Thereforeit could be pollinated by only one male plant, right? In the case of an aggregate fruit which develops from a flower with numerous simple pistils couldn't the individual pistils hypothetically be fertilized by different male plants? Would this mean that the individual simple fruits that make up a raspberry are genetically different. As if one raspberry is a collection of brother and sister fruit? What about a multiple fruit , like pineapple? A cluster of flowers produce a single fruit. If each of these flowers is fertilized individually, but they mature into a single mass does the pineapple have DNA from some of the flower fertilizations in some cells and sibling DNA in other cells or is all the DNA in every cell of the pineapple?
