You could class them as soft solids, since they do not flow. They may be very viscous liquids... but solid is the closest definition.

The are not truley fluid {which means "gas or liquid" in Physics}, since I can put it in a bowl and it won't coat the bottom.

At room temperature it's a liquid... or probably better described as it's a fluid (because it flows) The reason is that it is in a liquid state. (although it's really viscous) It moves around other objects. It's molecules are active.

In a solid state it won't move. It's molecules are static.
