Not ashamed to admit I saved a few farts in my time. yes you can save a fart and it does light on fire when exposed to flame. the problem lies when you want to add a second fart to the jar as it lets out the first one. a man could be rich if he invented a 2 stage fart jar and sold it to spencers gifts. it would have to be made with some sort of vaccum device and an airlock chamber.
I would also add a chemical that reacts to methane gas turning it a certain green color green is the color of choice for farts i think but yellow might be good also. just think of the ramifications maybe even a chewing gum that can react to methane and when you fart it gives off a colored vaporius cloud how cool would that be we could make millions! muuuhaaaaaa! a billion dollars!

From a strictly chemistry point of view, yes you can but it would be difficult because the "interesting" aspects of the fart are not very stable when exposed to air, oxygen specifically, so when your customer opened the package it would not have the same stimulating aroma it started with.
Besides, as a business, how would you set up production? Would you have a line of people sitting on fart collectors eating beans. Would you pay them by the hour or volume? And how would you monitor quality control? Would you advertise for fart connessieurs to sniff and analyze production? Would you have different flavors?

Who is it that supplies a market for canned farts? Is the military planning a new offensive weapon? I read that it's been done. The scientist that figured out a foolproof method for canning farts was a close cousin to the doctor who completed the first successful procedure for transplanting disfiguring warts. Equally brilliant, at first they collaborated on both projects, but decided to specialize. "You take the warts, I'll do the farts," one suggested. The other agreed, and history was in the making.

Actually I had a similar experience on a High Adventure Trip with the boy scouts. Being the teenagers that we are, bored during our 3 day drive to Michigan, we tried farting into bottles. We hid them in this one guys tent and opened them after they had sat in the sun for several hours. It was rank and hilareous. Like wine, the longer left untouched, the better.

it is possible
believe it or not me and my sis used to do stuff like that - we had this little tin can that we would just fart in or blow breath.- but the breath didnt really stay for some reason.
but i also heard from a friend that if you were to store up farts for like 50- 100 years or something it would be an equivalent to a bomb of some sort. now that i dont know about haha

There is no need, since apparently there is no longer a market for "preserved" farts. You can completely get fresh farts delivered via e-mail from http://www.flatulenceondemand.com
These farts are apparently produced at the instant the request is placed, and delivered within minutes.

Yes it is possible to save and preserve your farts. you will need air tubes used in aquariums.a glass funnel, a test tube, and a bath tub of water. you will far into the upside down funnel and watch the air bubbles go into the test tube you have at the end of the airline. the more farts you make, the mroe air fills the test tube. pushing the water out. then seal with a rubber cork under water, and your fart has been presereved

You CAN preserve a fart. Just fart in a ziplock baggie and put it in the freezer. Now, you probably don't want to put it in your regular old home freezer. You need to take it to a large freezer -- like the ones at walmart. Put the ziplock baggie in the Ice Cream section to ensure it stays fresh and viable for many years to come.

This is much like the old Dial-A-Fart concept, where farts used to be delivered via telephone.
