Pregnancy - December 2006

I'll be at the 36 week mark tomorrow, my son is very very low..and ive been getting those sharp pains "down there" for about a month now...i went into preterm labor last saterday, which was stopped...but since i left the hospital he's gotten even lower...the presure is unbarable since last night...and im getting really sharp pains in my vagina every time i so much as lift a foot...i feel like this is way to much pain for it to be normal...but the doctor will probly tell me "it's just part of being pregnant" any suggestions, stories?..I honestly dont think its going to be much longer till labor

When i first heard my babys heartbeat I was almost 11 weeks and it was 176. I have my own doppler monitor so i listen to it alot, and during the 12 weeks it was 159-167, now I am almost 14 weeks and one day it was 160 all day, and the next day its staying at in the 140's. Is this ok that it is changing this much in a week?

I just found out that I am pregnant - after 7 months of trying! YAY! This is my first child, so of course, I have questions! I have not been to the doc yet - I can't get in until Jan 5th, but I took 2 hpt's and they were both positive, plus my period is like clockwork (every 28 days on the nose) and it's late, plus we had been using ovulation kits and were "active" when I ovulated.....so......

For those of you that have kids, what tests did the doc do on the first visit? (If you remember!) Is an ultrasound done a while before a sonogram? What's the difference?

How long did you wait before you told family? Friends? Coworkers/boss?

Can i force my bf whom i am engaged to be there?he does not want to be at the birth of his own son saying its gross?I refuse to give birth without him .I was thinking if i wait till the last minute to go too the hospital i could force him to drive me and witness the birth?since we live together and have since college.I just want him to hold my hand and tell me everything will be okay in labor because i am scared.

I keep having a clear/light green discharge like jelly but with no blood. Also when I get out of bed in the morning for the past week I have been having more discharge with jelly and water.
Also is it normal to wake up with a huge pain in your calf muscle. I was screaming with pain this morning cos of this pain and I could feel a lump on my leg. My boyfriend thought I was going into labour lol!

If my father's sperm had fertilized a different woman's egg instead of my mother's would I still have been born, but looking different due to having the genetics of a different mother, and if a different man had fertilized my mother's egg instead of my current father, would I still be "me" but just looking different because I would have the genes of a different father? So then, if my parents had not had sex together, but instead they had paired off with 2 entirely different people to creat children with, would I then actually be 2 different people instead of the one that I am??

What would you do if you couldn't have babies and the friend of a friend got pregnant and didn't want it and was asked to keep the baby for you so you could adopt it? Adoption is not an issue for me but bringing this up to my husband may not be so easy. This friend of a friend is also one of his oldest friends and she doesn't want anyone to know she is pregnant and also does not want me to tell my husband who the babies mother is. I am so confused between right and wrong.

i am 40 weeks pregnant and my face has been swollen for about 4 days now.....the swelling is only effecting one side of my face...its not that noticable to everyone else but i can feel it cause im only talking out one side of my mouth and i am only able to give half a smile...it doesnt look as bad as it is uncomfortable...i have been to the doctor and she says its not edema or preclempsia...she thinks it will be this way untill i give birth but i really cant deal with not being able to smile....please tell me if you have any suggestions on what i can do to make the swelling go down...and assure me that this does happen to other people and i will be ok!!!

i am 40 weeks pregnant and i have done pretty well emotionally up untill now....half of my face is swollen and i cant smile cause only half of it works and i look so stupid...im always smiling so the fact that i cant has broken me down...i cant stop crying...i dont want anyone to see me!!! the doctor said my face will be like this untill i give birth...is there anything i can do to make the swelling go down so i can have my big smile back...please help

I live in Upstate which is 45 minutes to an hour away from NYU Hospital. I have a normal pregnancy i just wanna have a great ob/gyn...he is in NYC-Manhattan and delivers in Manhattan..Do you think an hour ride is way to far when your in labor? Do I have a greater chance of having it in the car?? i am comming from a fertlity specialist and I asked him this...he replied that i will cause a traffic jam..cause i might easily have in car...he claims ITS WAY TOO FAR...
Should i rather go with a 20 minute away hospital...what was your experience???thanks

Im on my first and so far i get really bothered by the In-laws being so "in my face" or telling me they are staying with me after i have the baby (which is my moms job) Or them telling me i wont ever make it with out an epidural....

I'm being induced with my second baby on Wednesday, (5 days overdue) as i have high blood pressure. How long does it usually take from when they use the gel until birth.

I know everyone is different but i'd like to get a rough idea, I have had a membrane sweep and have been getting braxton hicks quite a lot.

Okay i know that you can start feeling pregnancy symptoms after a few days of concieving!! I've been havin symptoms for the last 2 weeks! I know how my period feels and i know my symptoms of getting it! My tempature has been high and i've been sweating when its freezing outside and in my house! I have had light cramping dizziness and lower backaches and now my boobs are tender... I dont know how this could be a sign of my period i know my symptoms right before i get it and i never cramp or get lower back pains before my period! Is there a chance of pregnancy or is it just a different start of my period!

I want my significant other to think im still pretty. Im currently almost 8 months pregnant i dont feel very pretty. The other day we got in a tiny arguement and his main point "You dont dress up for me anymore" That was his main problem with his ex. I dont want our relationship to go down that road. A very close frien of mine has for the last 18 months been a frequent user of cocaine. She is now 5 months pregnant and i have just found out she is still using. Im so torn as to what to do...
Do i confront her and try to help her or do i just ignore it and see it as none of my business?
