Republicans called repeatedly on Wednesday for elimination of the estate tax — which falls principally on the largest of estates — and reduction in the income tax on corporations.

Many democrats have said that taxes on the rich and big corporations will be needed to make up for the current deficit. The idea being that the deficit is hurting our economy, and the country in general. Yet there is also the argument that more taxes will hurt the economy, and the country in general.

Which do you think is worse (or better) to have the higher taxes, or the deficit? Or do you have an alternative?

The question was what will you do in your first year as president? His response was to first call together the joint chiefs and have them formulate a responsible plan that ends the war and begins the diplomacy necessary to bring stability to the region. Secondly, he would call in the attorney general and have him review every executive order made by Bush and examine them for constitutionality and reverse those that are not. What do you think about these two things?

Many scientists believe that it is. This is from the U.S. Senate's web page.

Sounds like more than a few very well respected scientists believe it is. And they have more than a few peer reviewed studies to back up their thinking.

Liberals are invited to answer as well, because there is room for everyone in my philosophy, but this is aoimed at conservatives at this time. what would your opinion of a Thompson/Huckabee ticket be, in terms of viability? I see good ideas from each, Thompson has national pull, and both men give straight answers without being wishy washy like liberal giuliani. i like ron paul but i think he is too much in attack mode. I respect his views and applaud him for sticking to his guns, unlike any of the democratic candidates.

no vile responses, please. looking for INTELLEGENT responses from all.

I find this quote most interesting. It is from a Hessian Prisoner of War.

28 December 1776 – This morning we visited General Lord Stirling, who conducted himself in a very friendly manner toward us. He received us with these words, ‘Your General von Heister treated me like a brother when I was a prisoner, and so gentlemen, you shall be treated by me in the same manner…Lord Stirling…asked if it would be our pleasure to accompany him to see General Washington...He kept four of our officers for the noon meal and the rest of us ate with Lord Stirling.
–Lt. Piel (Hessian)
