Now, lets put the theories aside for a moment and take the situation as it presented itself.

You are the president. You are sitting in a classroom reading My Pet Goat to a classroom of students. The secret service guy whispers something in your ear to the effect of "The nation is under attack" What do you do?

Although Nixon stained his reputation due to the Watergate Scandal, he had made some good acheivements such as ending the Vietnam War and opening 'Red China'. If there were no Watergate Scandal at all, do you think Nixon would have gained much respect from Americans?

1. Has she seemed the most "conservative", or centrist, of the Dem candidates? Iraq primarily.
2. Would you expect her administration to be like that of her husband's? If so, in what ways?
3. Can you name a bill she has written, or sponsored, that is of any significance?
4. Is Obama the "logical" choice of a running mate? I know it is way too early, if not Obama, any other choices? Al Gore maybe?
5. Are the 4 previous questions FAIR to the junior Senator from New York?

Prowar Senators used the filibuster provision repeatedly this past week to win the day, and the allegedly antiwar Senators did - nothing . Friday, the Senate failed to get the votes necessary to stop a filibuster and vote on an amendment ordering most U.S. troops home from Iraq in the next nine months. The vote was 47-47, well short of the 60 required to bring debate to an end. On Thursday, the Senate blocked legislation by Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) and Sen. Russ Feingold (D-Wis.) that would have cut off funding, albeit only for "combat" forces in June 2008. Now comes the news that Bush's spending supplemental for the war to be submitted to the Senate this week will amount to nearly $200 billion dollars.

Prowar Senators are on their way to using the filibuster provision a record number of times in this the 110th Congress where cloture has already been invoked 56 times.

Why not Filibuster Bush's forthcoming spending supplemental? So Bush would need 60 Senate votes.

On the one hand, it's a great joke to pull on somebody. Obviously, these people were totally oblivious to the fact that someone (a prankster, no doubt) put the bumper sticker on their car. But on the other hand, how embarrassing! I'm torn on this one. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

In the article above, Bush says that "Democrats in Congress" have decided to pass a bill they know will be vetoed.

However, the bill has pretty widespread Republian support, too.

But the President knows he can't win a fight based on facts, so he's got to resort to tugging at party strings.

I'm sick of him. Are you?

I overwhelmingly think he should be welcomed for the following reasons:

1. It gives us a perfect opportunity to show him what good people we are.

2. It gives us a perfect opportunity to show the entire world that we do actually believe in free speach.

3. It gives us a perfect opportunity to show him how being friends with us gains him a lot more than being enemies.

4. It gives us a perfect opportunity to look in his eyes and see if he really means what he says or if he's a bullshit artist.

5. It gives us a perfect opportunity to learn about him.

6. It gives us a perfect opportunity to understand him better if he is truly our enemy.

7. It gives us a perfect opportunity to ask tough questions.

In conclusion, if we deny him an introduction to America what is he going to say, "My fellow Iranians, I tried to go to America, but all 300 million of them were afraid of me."

Is that what your choice would be?

of how far behind the times we are here in the U.S. Based on this article, you have to ask yourself, "Is this what our U.S. inner cities should be modeled after?"

Amsterdam draws curtain on sex industry as red light windows close.
A few exerpts:
The district is a magnet for petty criminals and, authorities believe, human traffickers, drug lords and mobsters - who take advantage of the situation to launder money.

The move is part of Mayor Job Cohen's efforts to counter that crime.
"What we do want is to get rid of the underlying criminality," said Cohen.

Is this really the progressive U.S. that people want? Don’t we have enough crime in our cities as it is, without adding to it?

It's not a question of ends, it's a question of means.

Either government's role is not merely to protect and preserve liberty, or it is to usurp it, to trample on it. You cannot possibly draw distinctions among the ENDS for which it may do this - because (1) those distinctions are subjective - they are merely the ideals that any individual might have, and (2) ALL such proposed objectives will simply be represented as "for the children" or "for the good of the whole" - those phrases become meaningless (they already have) and pretty soon it's just a feeding frenzy, people become less focused on creating wealth than on taking it from others, and then there is less to go around.

Freedom and wealth creation go hand in hand, folks.
