If you were president, what do you do on the morning of 9/11?

Now, lets put the theories aside for a moment and take the situation as it presented itself.

You are the president. You are sitting in a classroom reading My Pet Goat to a classroom of students. The secret service guy whispers something in your ear to the effect of "The nation is under attack" What do you do?

Pretty much how it was handled.Get through the reading or out of it as quickly as possible without alarming the kiddies, then get down to the business of handling the situation.

Having just been told that the country was under attack, the commander in chief appeared uninterested in further details. He never asked if there had been any additional threats, where the attacks were coming from, how to best protect the country from further attacks, or what was the current status of NORAD [the North American Aerospace Defense Command] or the Federal Emergency Management Agency. Nor did he call for an immediate return to Washington. Instead, in the middle of a modern-day Pearl Harbor, he simply turned back to the matter at hand: the day's photo op. Precious minutes were ticking by, and many more lives were still at risk. [25]

Finish reading the book, after excusing myself with a clam
smile, to speak to the secret service, to contact the airport
to have Air Force One ready, bring the car around, contact the security agencies to be on alert, and call in the joint chefs of staff for an emergency meeting as to how to react.

I think I would have done pretty much the same thing. Quickly finish what I am doing and excuse myself from the classroom at the next possible moment. You don't want to do anything that would frighten or alarm the children in that classroom.

Well, the last thing I would do is get all panicky and stuff. I would quickly finish up reading the book to the little students, and then once I finished I would leave the room and attend to whatever I had to. I wouldnt get all upset and go crazy in front of them.

I dont see what these conspirzcy theory guys are thinking. What was Bush supposed to do? He's sitting in a classroom full of little kids. Was he supposed to get up and start screaming and running around? Was he supposed to drop the book and run to wherever? He did the right thing. Maintain your composure and dont go crazy in front of a whole bunch of little kids. It furiates me that people think he didnt care or wasnt surprised or whatever.

Leave work regardless of what the authorities say; go pick up the kids from school, take them home, go grocery shopping and hide from the neighbor who has their assault riffle loaded and is standing naked in their front yard.

Wait to listen to the tv to inform you what to do next and what need to be done, nothing different than a true politician.

Find out who did this, enter the lunch codes, aim the Nukes
and launch, just to be sure that there was no mistake, I would make sure that Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran and Syria each received one of our NUKES.
Then I would tell them turn over your terrorists before we destroy your country turning it into glass.

But then I am not exactly tolerant towards terrorists but doubt that after that, the US would have to worry about them any more.
