If the nomination came down to Rudy Guiliani or Ron Paul, which one would you want to be the nominated candidate for President and why?

"As the cool and deliberate sense of the community ought, in all governments, and actually will, in all free governments, ultimately prevail over the views of its rulers; so there are particular moments in public affairs when the people, stimulated by some irregular passion, or some illicit advantage, or misled by the artful misrepresentations of interested men, may call for measures which they themselves will afterwards be the most ready to lament and condemn. In these critical moments, how salutary will be the interference of some temperate and respectable body of citizens, in order to check the misguided career, and to suspend the blow meditated by the people against themselves, until reason, justice, and truth can regain their authority over the public mind"

In one of the Yahoo questions, the asker posted a question something along along the lines of why a list of people were murdered. Among that list was Martin Luther King Jr. and Gahndi.
But the answers shocked me. Some of the answerers disrespected and disregarded them, including King Jr. and Gahndi. How is this even possible?

Now, I've never personally met anybody who has ever disregarded them. And I have lived in Eastern NC my entire life, so nobody can say I've been raised around 'left wing propaganda'.

Wouldnt he save time just by posting questions for them to answer? After all, they are "better educated" and obviously more experienced in these matters.

Iraqi investigators have a videotape that shows Blackwater USA guards opened fire against civilians without provocation in an incident last week in which 11 people died, a senior Iraqi official said Saturday. He said the case was referred to the Iraqi judiciary.

Iraq's president, meanwhile, demanded that the Americans release an Iranian arrested this week on suspicion of smuggling weapons to Shiite militias. The demand adds new strains to U.S.-Iraqi relations only days before a meeting between President Bush and Iraq's Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki.

Interior Ministry spokesman Maj. Gen. Abdul-Karim Khalaf said Iraqi authorities had completed an investigation into the Sept. 16 shooting in Nisoor Square in western Baghdad and concluded that Blackwater guards were responsible for the deaths.

He told The Associated Press that the conclusion was based on witness statements as well as videotape shot by cameras at the nearby headquarters of the national police command.

To vote for economic sanctions against a country, as the UN did today is an act of war... Is this what the US and the world wants and are you ready to pay $160 for a barrel of oil and the resulting increase prices at the pumps?

We are social beings who live in communities. Does that make us Socialists and Communists? Regardless of your ideological preferences, "No person is an Island unto themselves"*(John Donne)--although some obviously wish it were so.

What do you guys think is the dumbest political talking point?

I think it is "George Bush wanted to go to war."

Of course he wanted to go to war, if he didn't we wouldn't be there.

Any ideas?

Chalk another one up to the far right who are so good at dishonestly twisting, bending, and distorting an incident into something that bears only the barest resemblance to what the facts are.

JOHANNESBURG (Reuters) - Nelson Mandela is still very much alive despite an embarrassing gaffe by U.S. President George W. Bush, who alluded to the former South African leader's death in an attempt to explain sectarian violence in Iraq.

Notice how the media declares this an "embarrassing gaffe" as if no other possibility could account for this mistake? Couldn't it also be a Freudian slip or wishful thinking upon the President's part? After all, Nelson Mandela was a dirty lousy communist:
