Do you support tax exempt status for illegals AND legal immigrants?

Why should oue esteemed guests be forced to pay income tax? We are all wealthy enough to support everyone! If you dont think you are tighten your belt and life within your means! Its your patriotic duty!

I do not support tax exempt status for anyone- legal and illegal immigrants. People who complain about not wanting to pay taxes will be the first to bit*h when the services or assistance they want such as assistance after flooding, collapsed bridges, hurricanes etc and they hear- no money.
Also here is a dirty little secret our government does not want you to know.
They HAVE been collecting taxes from those illegals who file tax returns once they find out that they can.

The IRS issues them a number not a social, but one specifically to collect taxes from them. It is called an Individual Tax Identification Number (ITIN). This is something the government has been doing since the 1990's.

Don't get me wrong, some have not been but as soon as some of them found out that they could, they have been.

No. Its the neoconservatives who are supporting a tax-exempt status for the illegal immigrants. By not having an amnesty program they are leaving these people in an undocumented status--so they don't have to pay taxes. I f the reform bill the right-wing killed earlier this year had passed, the government would already be collecting many of those taxes.

I'm gonna take it a step further and say that MOST Americans truly aren't required to pay an income tax. It wouldn't even be necessary if our government were to shrink quite a bit. And that's no joke.

EDIT: To those touting the fairtax, a national sales tax is not the answer. Just allowing those who don't owe a federal income tax to not pay one, will do just fine. There is no law that requires most Americans to pay income taxes, look it up. The things we "need" will still be paid for by state taxes. The ones we don't will no longer exist ;o)

I see your point but most of them wouldn't pay an income tax if they filed, because of Bush's tax cuts. These are nannies, lawnmower operators, drywall installers - - - - these are low income people.

The problem is, we import a million of them a year, the total number of poor people increases by less than 1/4 of that, and Paul Krugman tells you that the increase in poor people means people who aren't poor are moving down the economic ladder, when the reality is that they're moving UP the economic ladder, just being replaced more than 1 for 1 with poor people moving UP geographically to the US.

Amnesty for illegals is nothing but a sham to further deplete the middle class.Our so called congress needs to be voted out and new blood added.They took more than ONE TRILLION from the Social Security in Presidents Johnson's administration for failed housing and welfare.Now they further want to destroy it by giving to illegals something they never paid into and all the free medical,that you would be denied.
My patriotic duty was served in the US NAVY aboard the USS VALCOUR AVP 55.
My parents came from Europe in the early 1900s as children, and they got squat.My grandfather died of black lung and nothing was ever given to him.He paid his taxes till he died.

Nope. Not tax exempt. I don't support tax exempt for wealthy or middle class either. Everyone should pay something. Those better able to pay should pay more and those less able to pay wind up paying less but never nothing.

I would prefer they arrested, sentenced to a term of hard labor, building a wall on the southern border, digging holes between the 2 fence system for the implanting of land mines, and then sent back to where they came from , never to return under threat of death. They aren't our 'esteemed guests' as you put it. A guest is someone who is invited & we did not invite them in. Those here illegally need to voluntarily or forcefully go back to their own countries. For those who are here legal & permanently, they need to get off public assistance and cash jobs and pay their share.
