of how far behind the times we are here in the U.S. Based on this article, you have to ask yourself, "Is this what our U.S. inner cities should be modeled after?"

Is this really the progressive U.S. that people want? Don’t we have enough crime in our cities as it is, without adding to it?

The article you've linked says that Amsterdam is closing red light districts, and if that is the "progressive" position, I agree.

I am surprised that there wasn't more effort to repair New Orleans. There is no difference in total prostitution between any developed country. I had read the article. The Netherlands just had the sense to make a good deal of money on it rather than let the criminals have all the cash.

It has been said that the Netherlands has one of the lowest crime rates in Europe, but consider that authorities are not duty-bound to prosecute criminal acts, which leaves a loophole in areas that technically are illegal. Whenever something becomes a criminal problem, the Dutch make it legal, thereby reducing crime at a stroke of a pen. Narcotic drugs are illegal in the Netherlands. But the Dutch treat drug use mainly as a medical problem rather than purely as a crime. I believe the Netherlands are finding out their "progressive" society needs a little reigning in. In recent years the Netherlands has bowed to pressure from surrounding countries regarding its drug policy and has tightened the rules for "coffeeshops" .

I find it amazing that Liberals are so two faced. On the one hand, they want to force all smokers (I am not a smoker by the way) to quit smoking and obese people (I am fat) to quit eating twinkies and other food that is not good for you, but on the other hand they celebrate unsafe sex with multiple partners and encourage the destruction of human embryos and so-called marriage between perverts. They don't have a problem with a Congressman that runs a homosexual brothel out of his home nor do they object to a Congressman who has an affair with a Congressional Page. But let some pervert pop up in the opposing party and they hit the ceiling!

From where I sit, we already have "Amsterdam" in our inner cities, it is just criminalized. Which is why our jails are over-crowded and our prisons are getting there.

Since Amsterdam is now recognizing the "underlying criminality," I would say that indicates the US is handling the effects of Secular Liberalism just fine.

Now, let's admit that Secularist Liberals have screwed the very population they claimed to care about: The poor.

I get so tired of how people speak out of both sides of their mouths. They pretend like they are for us, want to see what's best for us. But they evidently despise this country. They want to see us crumble and be overtaken from within. They play games with our constitutional principles and apply them in ways that were never intended. Principles that made us strong are now being perverted and dismantled. And to look at how other countries, those not proven to be as great as ours, have run their societies as a measuring stick to how to run ours is just ludicrous! Yet, one answerer admits to not wanting to move there. We can keep moving in their direction and soon be not wanting to stay here I'm afraid!

It feels dirty to wade through answers that promote smut . But sometimes ya gotta slop through the mud to get to the green pastures .
I'm sorry but I'm so Anti-Smut I get sick talking about it . The references to Vegas sicken me as well . I don't judge anyone who goes there, - droppin a few bucks on a blackjack table or slot machine is fine , but it's the dirt involved within that city that keeps me away from there .

How about this for hypocrisy .... . . . Vegas made a concerted effort to make their town and events more family friendly . Tore down old casinos and built new ones with the added amenity of children's amusements . Now contrast that line of thinking with Vegas' own Advertising slogan >> What Happens in Vegas Stays in Vegas << . . . A clear message to come there and sin . Have a prostitute , cheat on your spouse , do whatever bad thing you want cause ain't no one gonna know . BULL . That's not 'family' oriented at all . What it really is , is an attempt to get the kids to love Vegas so that when they're older they can spend money there .

Sorry about the rant about Vegas , but smut anywhere disgusts me . I want no part of it .

What policy change is being advocated by non-conservatives that you think would lead to a raise in crime? Is it prostitution being legal?

Prostitution is legal in Nevada, so . . . is that some crime ridden place where we need to change prostitution being legal?

We all agree human trafficking is bad, drugs is bad, and organized crime is bad. Everyone wants to fight those things. What policy change would lead to those things being on the rise in America?

As far as I can tell all you are asking here is progressives bad because they like Europe and in Europe they have crime.

Hi S! Im on my way to a big "Fest" this afternoon and I stopped ion the office to tie up some work on the way there.

Shiraz: It is conservatives that have policies that favor the rich enough to create a 2-class system IF it is not offset by some liberal protectionism.

I do believe pot should be legal for adults, but Im afraid too many adults are too juvenile to handle it. This is caused largely by the drug companies and their propaganda.

Progressives themselves tend to be as harmless as most conservatives.

According to the Wikipedia, the progressives in the Netherlands are not the leading party. Right now it seems to be the Christian Democratic Appeal Party. Now isn't that a hoot?
