The basis of this question relates specifically to Yahoo Answers, but can be applied to a broader spectrum. There are many well crafted questions where no opinion is stated by the asker. However, I notice that no matter how well the question is phrased there are always a certain number of people who immediately determine that they know the motivations of asker and immediately adopt an attack posture. Often times they don't even bother to answer the actual question, but rather just voice their discontent, or outrage that it would even be asked. What is your opinion?

Like the freedom to choose what you buy and the freedom to be rewarded for your hard work. I capitalism not hard work being exchanged for others hard work. Without the freedom to better yourself wouldn't it stop being capitalism? Why did so many folks from my last question say it's not capitalism but freedom that made America great. I say you can't seperate the two.

Let's all be honest, please. If the worst would happen, and we were attacked here, on our own soil (as in a war), do you have faith that the citizens of the United States would really 'be there' for each other? Would YOU be there for your neighbor? Fighting beside them for this country? Would they be there for you? Could we forget at that time who's black, white, brown or yellow? Who's liberal and who's conservitive? Who's christian and who isn't? Who's white collar or blue collar?.......
I still believe in this great land of ours and it's people. I don't always like the government, but the country is only Run by the government. It's the PEOPLE that make this country what is truly is......

If a Democrat were to win, I would rather see Bill Richardson win. He has more experience and accomplishments than Hillary or Obama. Hillary was just a senator for a couple years and did not accomplish much, and Obama has nothing really to speak of, either. Bill Richardson was a congressman for many years, an Ambassador to the United Nations, and Governor of New Mexico. And I especially like how he is not for passing any gun control laws and letting Americans keep their 2nd Amendment right.

I was just reading a YA question about Fred Thompson and there were a number of responders that said he was "too ugly to vote for".

Are we as a society ready to make that great leap (or not so great depending on how you look at it) into the American Idol philosophy of electioins?

I have to assume these were teenagers or angry liberals who are afraid of the truth. I personally vote for the canidate who most closely matches my own political views.

What are your thoughts?

Oh and FRED IN 2008!!!

Personally I don't like him, his weirdo family and his band...any thing about him as well as his attempt to help Taiwan get selected by UN. Don't know if the Taiwanese gov. ever pays him and his band to do run this campaign but (well he maybe don't need the money or he needs some international regconition out of his weirdo life style) but it's a really nut story. I would turn my attention to the poor and the needed other than get killed by the Commies for this idea.

Truman Knew that going from Island to Island would take the lives of many more Americans and made the hard decision to bring a quick end to the war in the pacific .
Germany was bombed into submission and the people knew better then to violate the rules of the occupation if they wanted to live . Hundreds of thousands of troops from Europe and the U.S.A. secured Germany .

SO why is it that we only have a handful of soldiers in Iraq when we need 5 times as many to maintain order .

NO ONE knows the situation in Iraq but the "higher ups". NO ONE. Every American is talking about bringing the troops back and NO ONE knows what is ACTUALLY going on over there. So how in your right mind can you even have an opinion? You don't know the true situation. You just know that Americans are dying over there and that's the only bases you are using. If that's all the information you have that you are going by that's ridiculous. There is so much more in play than soldiers dying. ONLY "higher ups" (the President, generals, etc) know exactly what is going on over there and have the right to make decisions as to what is going on. If you don't want your sons, daughters, etc to be dying in war, tell them not to join. Simple. We basically do not have the right to preach to the President and his generals like we know what we're talking about, because we DON'T. We don't have a clue what's going on there.

I'm tired of people acting like they have a clue as to what the situation... cont

Something (be it a school, a town or a COUNTRY) is not "#1" for the simple fact that you spend time there. Let's stop playing cheerleader neocons, and start holding the U.S. to the level of goodness that we demand.

I have always considered myself a Liberal, until this issue of illegal immigration has risen it's ugly head. I am 100% against it. Does being Liberal mean you have to be liberal with everything? Reagan gave the first amnesty, and he was Conservative. Bush is leaving the border open. What do you think?

We know these two share a socialist ideology, along with an intense hatred of freedom, capitalism, Jews, and people with clean skin, but those aren't important. Who do you think Hollywood loves more? Which one would you want to take in bed?

I am wondering why, everyone is so excited about them, other then the fact that one is a women, and the other is a black male, Does that in it self mean that they will be good presidents? according to the dems Bush is useless, if so then how come we never hear what they can do better for this country, according to Obama all he want's to do is criticize Bush , but he can't seem to come up with any good ideas about health care, or the economy, or how this country needs to conduct it self. Hillary is always bringing up health care but she doesnt say anything about how bad it works in other countrys, or how much it will cost us you always hear the slams about the Republicans. I think it is all politics and no one really gives a damn about the real people in this country. All these politicians want to do is be president, and screw the people that vote for them. I am not taking up for anyone, I just wnat to no why I should vote for any one in particular. debates are a joke, wont ask tough?

Teddy Roosevelt was a strong leader, good President, conservationist, and he was a gentleman. He tried to preserve wildlife for future generations by creating national parks. He was so modest that he said that it is unpatriotic to not criticize the President and let people criticize him, and he learned and improved from criticism. Nowadays, Republicans are corporation lovers, their corporations cut down trees, don't try hard to stop pollution, and the party is in general, corrupt as hell. I wish we would have a decent President like Teddy again.
