I like the parts of the Bible that let me own slaves, have incest, and smite my neighbor.

I'm a Deist, but I know that a lot of people have read the Old Testament and they still maintain their religious beliefs. After all, Judaism is mainly based on the Old Testament, and there are plenty of Jews out there!

I am religious and have read the Old Testament. And I am still lazy and ignorant. Your point?

Actually I have read both the Old and New Testaments. I'm not sure what you think is crazy about the Old Testament though.

If you read the Old Testament with a preconceived notion of it's validity and relevance - then the discourse is already tainted. Most of the Old Testament applies only to the ancient Israeli nation and only serves as a reminder of the value of the sacrifice of Jesus Christ.
(The Judas "double death" has been explained, any juvenile can discern the difference between the cause of Judas' death (hanging) and the end result(guts exploding))

No, I am a Christian and I have read the entire Old Testament. Perhaps you should try reading the New Testament.

I’m having a hard time understanding your question. Perhaps your ignorance is overriding the gist of what you are asking. You do know its bad form to question another persons faith don’t you. Maybe its because you are having a hard time learning how to cope with your own limited beliefs that its easier to attack someone else. Grow up little boy and maybe one day someone will take you seriously.

I've read the Old Testament several times in my life.
Could you be more specific about which part you are calling "crazy?"
Freedom of religion is not in the Bible, it is in the US Constitution. We can believe whatever we want.

Ahh.. I see.. then, by your statement, all Christians (and Jews .. because their bible is the old testament) are lazy and ignorant.
If it wasn't for you, I just don't know how we would ever classify ourselves.

The question has nothing to do with politics. Bring your anti-christian bigotry to Religion and Spirituality.
