I work in the restaurant industry in a very liberal area in the the South. Most of my employees are very young, which would also explain why they are liberals. Sorry...cheap shot. I want to sponsor a needy family for Thanksgiving and Christmas, so I went to the employees and asked the servers if they could donate a dollar a shift over the next two months to support this cause. I also said that I would match what they raised. Most of them did not want to do this because they didn't think it was their responsibility. Who's is it? Government's? Can someone explain the mentality here? I just get irked when I see this behavior.

"Kerry sorry for 'stuck in Iraq' remarks." I know what my personal feelings are in this matter, no matter how he meant the original remarks to be taken (whether or not it was taken out of context).

I also felt that he waited much too long to apologize and that he is going to pay the price, even within his own party, for his stalling tactics, poor choice of words, and lack of enthusiasm for his own country's Armed Forces.

It is pretty funny that his own party members are distancing themselves from him as fast as possible. Especially when everyone knows that a democrat would sell his own mother to pick up an extra vote and some easy cash. I would have mentioned selling their souls to the devil, but they do not believe in God and therefore have no souls to bargain with.

I know I am going to take some flak from the vitriolic dems out there, so dish it out you zealot nut jobs (democrats), I am ready to take my beating!

Do people honestly think the majority of liberals or conservatives are against US policies simply because they unpatriotic?

I sincerely believe that almost everyone wants America to be a country and thats why they choose to speak their mind about issues. Thus, it drives me to fury when I see posts that say, "libs hate our troops" or "Conservatives just want everyone to believe in Christianity."

How about a little more constructive criticism and a little less name calling?!?!

(yes, this question itself is lack of constructive critcisM, Im an exception to my own criticism)

Let me put this kindly: anyone who believes that Donald Rumsfeld has done a "fantastic job" in Iraq is out of his mind. The fact that such a person is president of the United States is beyond disturbing. But then this is the man who told Michael Brown he was doing a "heckuva job." And, yes, our Iraq policy begins to look uncannily like the Katrina response.

The president, in other words, has just proved that he is utterly unhinged from reality, in a state of denial truly dangerous for the world. He needs an intervention. Think of this election as an intervention against a government in complete denial and capable of driving the West off a cliff. You can't merely abstain now. Bush just raised the stakes. And he must be stopped.

My philosophy class was having a debate today on abortion. Well the 2 sides gave their arguments. Then we were allowed to ask questions, and I asked the side that was for abortion,
"Why does the man not get a choice in the abortion decision making process?"
She said, "Its the womans body."
Then I said, "I have a follow up question. What if the guy wants the abortion, and the woman does not? Does that mean the man does not have to take care of the child, or pay for child support?"
My philosophy teacher applauded me for asking the question. Do you have an answer to it?

In a free society, can the government legitimately argue that they have the power to protect people from harming themselves, such as with drugs, suicide, prostitution, ect, as long as they are not harming others(directly anyway)?

they both went to yale and bush's grades were better than kerry's. also bush can make up his mind on things, he doesn't flip-flop on issues and throw his medal away then wait, it was someone elses medals, then his combat buddies killed and raped innocent child but wait that wasn't true either...kerry needs to look in the mirror first before he disrespects anyone else.

"Because they can", and "because we let them" should not be sufficient answers.

What affect on the children are you trying to make?
Are you involved, or are you a stealth leader of one?
Do you think about what impact you COULD be at all?

You'll forgive my skepticism but:
Where was all this concern for the troops when GB and Congress were voting to send them to war with no evidence? Most these guys could care less about the troops, they are just using an out of context comment for partisan advantage. Soundbites are losing there effect and aren't going to when them the election this time. Republicans would do well to learn that.

Political philosophers such as Plato and Edmund Burke believe that political leaders are often forced to lie to protect the public. Do you agree with this? Does a Christian politician have a right to lie if revealing the truth might cause harm? Why or why not?

Of Bush’s 154 targets, the Education Department would suffer the most losses: He would kill 48 of its programs worth $4.3 billion and cut two others.

Another nine Justice Department programs worth $1.5 billion would be erased, including grants for hiring local police officers and for communications equipment.

I was having a discussion with my husband about this issue this morning.

I think it's an admirable thing to do.

My husband thinks it proves the leader is weak and will have to step down.

What do you think?

I think Kerry was an idiot for what he said, but this is strictly from a "grounds for apology" point of view...do you think the troops deserved it...did they get it?

George Bush jokes about looking for WMD:

http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=5662853583740403796&q=bush+wmd+joke&hl=en

Oh no he was "just kidding" and besides it's hilarious that our troops are dying over WMDs that were never there isn't it? Oh but wait that was just a mistake right? Lets not let any silly facts get in the way, be a good, patriotic American and never question our leaders. Sit back, clear your mind and just laugh when they tell you to and always obey the masters.
Bush........what a funny guy
