I sure as hell wouldn't want that mess.
There are no good answers.
It's like a falling stock. You want to hold on and hope it gets better. You just hope you don't lose it all.
I have always thought we need to stay no matter what, because leaving would be a disaster. I am not so sure now. I am not smart enough and don't have enough information to give you a good answer.
I don't know how we win the hearts and minds of the people. I don't think we can beat it out of them. I think it will take a generation. I think technology and media will expose them to other ways. I don't know. that would take a long time. The Muslim religion really clamps down and controls. I would hate to see a full blown religious war. There are so many that would be drawn in.
Depressing.

I would have gone in with enough troops from the very beginning to get done quickly, more like Gulf War 1.

This is the where Bush should have listened to the generals and it is what I am annoyed about. I am conservative Republican, but think this should have gone much more like Gulf War and it was insufficent numbers that caused it not to. The Persian Gulf war was the best tactical war we have fought most success and least deaths. We should have taken out Saddam then and then we would not have this problem now.
Now, I would do similar, bring in a lot more troops to get done and train up the Iraqi troops faster. I would fire Rumsfeld and ask Colin Powell if he would take it on, if not I would put a very able and competent general in the position.
Get done quicker. Leave smaller monitoring force as was in Germany etc for a while. Maintain strong ties of partnership with Iraqi government but not be their complete dictator.

At this point I would give a definite time to pull out,,,,,,,,,,,,say 6 to 9 more months,,,,,,,,,,,because try as we might, I honestly think these people don't have the care of human life no matter what!
Lets face it, If they kill someone, then they get to be in heaven with 6 0r 7 angels.....Is what they think...........So why?
Although we value life, they value death........It's like trying to tame the worst beast ever, to be domesticated...........It will be a whole new life style for them, and I think that Even if this happens, it won't last long because it is in their blood ..They almost can' t help but to be the way they are...It's a shame.....
