No, it was not a real apology. Like he was sorry he got caught offending ppl. but not sorry about what he said.
J.Kerry the leper. I bet he is surprised his fellows didn't take up for him.

First of all, why are you asking a question to which you already know the (your) answer?
I am a Democrat, and believe that people from both ends of the political spectrum can be considered "zealot nut jobs" by someone, so if you're wanting our honest opinions, marginalizing us is an interesting way to go about it.
My opinion: I believe Kerry, as a former military officer himself, has the utmost respect for our troops, because he was one. I believe that he has nothing but enthusiasm for our troops and their safety, and to paint any other picture is little more than stooping to the tactics of political gadflies like Rush Limbaugh, Ann Coulter, and Sean Hannity. Granted, we have our own gadflies, like Al Franken, but that's another conversation entirely.
Instead of making a huge issue out of a failed attempt at humor, let's call this what it is: it was a poor choice of words. Very poor. He has gone on the record saying that he meant to say "get US stuck in Iraq," not "get stuck in Iraq." I believe he is sincere. However, I think that his choice of words, and his decision to attempt to make a joke about the current administration, which by many accounts (from both parties) indeed has gotten us stuck in Iraq, was not well thought-out.
John Kerry, of all people, should know that every single word that comes out of his mouth will be scrutinezed and used against him by the zealot nut jobs in the Republican party who will stoop to any level to make him look like he hates America. I just wish he wouldn't make that task so easy sometimes. Thankfully, he's keeping his mouth shut and laying low for now.
As for the selling my mother to pick up a vote thing -- I'd never sell my mother. However, what does it say about the Republican party when they use family values as a main campaign issue, but yet its membership boasts a ton of divorcees and even a few sex offenders?

Please go to the link below. It ain't just Democrats.
The fact is there are several Republican saying they know what Kerry was trying to say was a joke about Bush being dumb. Here is a link to the transcripts from the Chris Mathews show.

Read the Dick Armey quotes. No friend of the Democrats. Very revealing.
The best quote I read about the whole thing was in another article. "Is the White House too stupid to know he was making a joke about them being stupid"
Who really cares what John Kerry says anyway. Does that have anything to do with anyone you're voting for? The Republicans want to get everyone fired up over this to take away from the issues. It's pretty sleazy politics and both sides do it.

The remarks were in bad taste, but at least he is owning up to them. Whether or not they were sincere, at least he isn't blaming them on someone else. By the way, I'm a Democrat and I believe in God.
I agree with what PaulieB said.

I seem to remember him specifically saying, "I appologize to no one..." yeah that's what he said. He also never appologized. Apparently, his aides are saying that he "forgot" to mention Bush at the end of his tasteless joke (why does he need to insult a man's intelligence anyway?). He didn't even make the scores Bush did in school, so if he IS in fact talking about Bush, well, then he's obviously a hypocrit. He NEVER appologized. He said "I regret that my statement was misunderstood..." So what he's actually doing is blaming the public for misunderstanding such an obviously poor choice of words.
When will you people ever learn that the good democrats are not the FAMOUS ones. If anyone votes for this guy, they wouldn't know their hat from their a$$ if you know what I mean (get your head out of it....)

He was ONLY apologizing because he started catching it from his own party! They started canceling his appearances and his chances for becoming president in 2008 started looking bleak!
Go back to 1972 when he was in front of Congress. What did he have to say about his FELLOW military brothers?
December 4, 2005, he made the comment that our Military men and women are going from door to door terrorizing the women and children in Iraq.
Now, he calls them Morons.
His history tells us what he ment by his current statements.
