In the 80's and 90's Iraq had 5 star hotels, many excellent resaurants, casinos, disco's. You could walk the streets at night without a problem. No one in normal life discriminated between christians(roman catholic or orthadox), sunnis, shiat, sabien or the Armenian comunity etc.
Even under sanctions the government gave all citizens generous rations free of charge, Rice, flour meat etc, they are now starving.
Healthcare was free to all.
Now people are being killed wholesale and the life is hell.
The Iraqi's as it has been proven do need strong governance, and they had it.

Newmarket Films set itself an unusual challenge when it decided to release the controversial faux investigative documentary "Death of a President" just six weeks after acquiring the movie at the Toronto International Film Festival last month.

But it might face an even more formidable obstacle because several major theater chains are refusing to play the film, which mixes real news footage with dramatized segments depicting the fictional 2007 death of President Bush.

Newmarket, the 12-year-old Los Angeles-based film financing, production and distribution company, plans to open the film October 27, just in time for the November 7 election.

"Yes, it's controversial," Newmarket co-founder Chris Ball said. "It's quite a compelling political thriller. In many ways it is sympathetic to George Bush. It talks about a rush to judgment. In no way is it a call for violence."

But the country's largest theater chain, Regal Entertainment Group, has passed on playing the film, citing

Why women have abortions
1% of all abortions occur because of rape or incest; 6% of abortions occur because of potential health problems regarding either the mother or child, and 93% of all abortions occur for social reasons (i.e. the child is unwanted or inconvenient).

When the Presidency and the House are finally returned to the Americans who are truly patriotic, truly interested in our world image, truly willing to help the needy and leave other governments alone, what will you do?

I for one will down a glass of champagne, thumb my nose at all the conservatives crying into their Budweisers and laugh all the way to "I told you so" town.

Is Brian Ross the Next Dan Rather?
Posted by Al Brown on October 5, 2006 - 20:07.
We've been here before; the similarities are, well, eerie.

First, the sensational story in the closing weeks of an election, attributed, of course, to an anonymous source. A blogger, William "Wild Bill" Kerr of Passionate America, using clues gleaned from ABC's own website, reveals the name of one of the "victims," and the fact that he was not, as reported by ABC, under 18 at the time of the Instant Message exchange.

On Brian Ross' Blotter blog, someone quietly tries to change the wording of the Foley story to fit the new reality, but is tripped up by the Google cache.

With the backbone of their report, the lurid and salacious Instant Messenger exchange, revealed as something much, much less than advertised, ABC stands by their story.

Then, Matt Drudge reveals that Jordan Edmund, the former page who participated in the Instant Message exchange with Mark Foley, did it as a prank. His story is corroborated by at least one other former page. Drudge also says that ABC got the story only after it "...got into the hands of enemy political operatives" (Ace of Spades has done some preliminary investigation about just who some of those operatives might be).

There is not one peep about this stunning revelation on ABC's World News Tonight, but the Blotter says that three more pages have come forward, anonymously, of course.

Brian Ross and ABC have already abused the anonymous source dodge at least once in this saga, and apparently have been duped badly. They shouldn't be given a pass this time. And, since Jordan Edmund and another witness have stated that "enemy political operatives" purloined the Instant Message records, ABC and Brian Ross may be guilty of receiving stolen property. They need to reveal the identity of their original source to the authorities.

Perhaps Brian Ross should resign, but, for now, ABC is standing by their story.

Wow, did anybody see Keith Olbermann yesterday pointing out how Bush is at election rallies lying about Democrats? Mon, Tues, and Weds. Bush was at them with lie after lie. Funny how Fox News decided to omit this from their reporting. You can read or view the whole thing at the link below. I'm sure Republicans here will twist these facts around somehow into Clinton or Pelosi.
