A powerful Republican committee chairman who has led the fight against President Bush's signing statements said Monday he would have a bill ready by the end of the week allowing Congress to sue him in federal court.

"We will submit legislation to the United States Senate which will...authorize the Congress to undertake judicial review of those signing statements with the view to having the president's acts declared unconstitutional," Judiciary Committee Chairman Arlen Specter, R-Pa., said on the Senate floor.

Specter's announcement came the same day that an American Bar Association task force concluded that by attaching conditions to legislation, the president has sidestepped his constitutional duty to either sign a bill, veto it, or take no action.

i had an article that stated these three theories: an airplane impact weakend the structure. an intense fire thermally weakend structural components that may have suffered damage to fireproofing materials,causing buckling failure and this allowed the upper floors to pancake onto the floors below.

In my state the Senator up for re-election is seperating herself from the president. She is claims to not always siding with the president. I have heard other Senators up for re-election are doing the same, they are voting for stem research and are seperating themselves from the ultra conservative Bush. So why does a rat abandon a ship?

I mean if this is our core belief...

Please look at my previous question... Most responses endorse that we have to live by violence because there is no other way...

Is this essential mistrust and violence a civilizational thing... it may bring a set of people to the top... but it ensures there are others vying for that postion.

So the cycle of violence has to continue till eternity. Is this myth at root of two world wars and the much destruction that follows. I m sure some will go back to their fathers saying "Wars have always been there and they will be!!!"

If we think in terms of human community and its preservation, caring about the planet we live on...the whole model of development will be different.

When you ask if there can be peace in the world they say no "because humans have always been violent and they always will be"!!! I see greater positive outlook among people of the third world who are actually dying due to proxy wars and real wars funded by various first world countries. They say 'one day there will be peace and that we will all learn with mutual understanding some day"!

Why??

Is it to do with the Bible and belief in original sin?

Is it to do with the fact that Westerners actually think violence is the only way to survive? Is it a core belief that inorder to survive you have to dominate and kill?

Why when someone has a "disgruntled" or "bad" view of an American government policy or actions people on yahoo suggest to move out of America stating "if you dont love it, move".

If i remember correcty the people of America where given many rights INCLUDING the right to FREE speach and the power to over throw a corupt government.
