Absolutely. I'm a registered Republican ( not conservative ) and
these guys in there now are just plain scary, not to mention totally corrupt! They have lulled many easily led people of this country into a very false sense of security! We are in Big Trouble people and we need to clean house! And the Republican House and Senate see it coming. This is why they are distancing themselves from their own President and Vice-Pres. A Democratic President with a House and Senate majority will turn things in a much different direction. But we do not need a hard-left Liberal either. Maybe not exactly what we all want, but I hope at least 180 degrees from what these maniacs are doing!

I don't think foreign policy would change all that much in substance. The commitment to Iraq would remain and there will still be a willingness to use unilateral force if it was deemed in the American interest. The style might change a little with more willingness to work with the UN etc.
There would be more emphasis on domestic policy. Partly because the Democrat's strong point, and partly just because people are getting ready to move on from the post 9-11 emphasis on foreign policy.

I think a change in administration would make a lot of changes in US policies. Democrats might mean more significant changes, but even a different Republican President would probably make some useful changes. Like maybe appointing people to lead government agencies who actually believe in the task of the agency, instead of destroying the agency's effectiveness for ideological reasons. Like using the UN much more. Like getting our troops out of Iraq. Or maybe even dumping this crazy "unitary executive" concept and going back to the Republic system with real checks and balances.

We have had democrats in office before. I don’t think it’s wise to expect any significant changes. After all, our Government is no longer a government for the people by the people. Special interest groups run this county. There is a skit in a comedy movie about the President of the United States (sorry I do not remember the title of the movie) that makes the point. An assistant to the President says to the President something like: Mr. President, party A is contributing $400,000 to your campaign, and party B is also contributing $400,000 to your campaign; you can do what you wish regarding this matter.
In a way this is comical; in a way it is sad. As it is, our nation is headed toward being “utterly wasted” (language of the great spiritual teacher, Isaiah). Jesus said, “A house divided cannot stand.” We, our families, our nation — the very world itself — are divided. If you have your finger on the pulse of the way we are headed, you realize that we are headed toward being “utterly wasted.” Our elected leaders in Washington cannot agree on the time of day. Thus, in answer to your question, you suggested the answer: “Same old crap with sugar coating.”
In reply to your other question, “What would it take to make US a decent pro life country?” the answer is a spiritual revolution unlike any that has ever occurred. As things are now, greedy, selfish people elect greedy, selfish leaders. I hasten to explain that there are some good leaders; however, there is not enough to repair the damage done by the crooked ones. It seems that everyone is trying to get everything they possibly can, and remember that it’s paid for by tax payers. Let’s face it! Our nation is headed for trouble. How many people do you know who do as President John F. Kennedy said to do, something like: “Ask not what your country can do for you; ask what you can do for your country”?
Changing the way we believe and think in our heart would transform us, our families, our nation—the very world itself. If the Gospel that Jesus preached and that he commanded his disciples to preach to every creature in the world were being taught in the teachings of Christianity — taught in a manner that people can understand, believe and embody — we, our families, our nation and the entire world would be transformed. Peace and harmony would replace violence, suffering and wars and the rumors of wars. Unfortunately, the Gospel that Jesus preached is not being taught in modern day churches. Think about it! How many people do you know who understand, believe, and do what Jesus said?
It’s ironic! The kind of life Jesus wanted us to live is the kind of life that everyone (including radical terrorists) desire to live … life in harmony with truth, God, and nature. Yet, people gloss over what Jesus said, as if he did not intend for people to do what he said.

Oh it will be different alright. All the money that would be going into protecting our country will go into peoples pockets. They will have a false since of security as they close down our military bases and sing ***-bi-a while holding hands with bin laden. but hey they will have money in their pockets right? to bad they won't be able to take it with them when they get blown to bits.
