Surely dressing up as OBL and getting to the block of the hotel where George Bush is staying has to be the funniest moment of this entire APEC drama. We looked like a crazy police state to the world, protecting the most hated man in the world (Bush) until the Chasers stunt lightened the atmosphere to show the world we still have a sense of humour even if our government is nuts at the moment.

The Chaser comedy crew's Osama bin Laden security prank at APEC has created international headlines.

In the US, the embarrassing security breach, in which the satirists drove a fake motorcade through security checkpoints to close to President George W Bush's Sydney hotel, got mixed reviews.

steadily pass a bunch of laws and make a lot of policies that drive the country over the edge of a precipice (see foreclosures, tradebudget deficits, illegals, perpetual warfare, etc...) and then ...they will come back and say they are the ones to take us out of the dire straights and they will blame the rest of the world as conspiring against the USA, and say that we will have to help the world to become more like the USA by force, and get them before they get us.?

After the end of World War II, the Allies made a concerted attempt to stamp out Nazi ideology in Germany. This only lasted as long as it took them to realize that the Soviet Union was now a threat, resulting in the active recruitment and political “rehabilitation” of lower-level Nazis to fight the Red Menace by the United States and others. For a while, however, the effort was made, resulting in a modern Germany that at least makes an effort to prevent the recurrence of totalitarianism and fascismor other anti-democratic movements.

Will a similar effort be needed to cleanse the United States of so-called Neoconservative ideology after the Republicans are voted out of office and the “Project for a New American Century” is discredited?

And at that time why were some people feeling so nonplussed then. If only we can turn back time and restart this century.

I think both parties are out to lunch when it comes to the issues that face ordinary hard working americans. It seems the repukes give us corporate perks and welfare for the superrich while the demos overtax and don't stand up for the middle class. Any thoughts? Another thing that irritates me is that both parties cheat and lie to get there way in the quest for power... not for doing what is right. The lobbiests are running the country down the draing as well... theres too much money and not enough ideas. All of the presidential candidates on both sides are uninspiring. Cheer Me Up!

The Republicrats=Exclusive, Wealthy, Farmers, Country-folk, Caucasians, Spiritual, Elderly, Captains of industry, South, Milateristic, West, Males. Now before you get you underware all buched up, these are generalizations, I know the round peg fits in the square hole but leaves some light on the corners. Just became one nation we would still be the USA just with mexican states joining the union and having them change all their things to our things would it not be much better, mexican pesos could be changed into american dollars, their goverment would be changed to ours, spanish could be accepted while they learned english or both could work out, i would not need a pass port to go fishing in baja, they would get better wages, and rights some of theif laws could stay in effect in their states while influence would get there by that i mean since thewy would be getting paid by our laws the corruption would go down and so forth it would work right?

or could i be wrong

Goal #2 of the United Nations millennium development goals states: "Achieve Universal Education".

Any thoughts on whether this is a realistic goal? Progress has been made toward this goal, but do you believe enough can be made over the remaining few years to ensure primary education is available for all children of the world?

How can it be made possible? What can we do to help?

Any thoughts on this subject are appreciated!

Thanks so much.

Sandwiched between Japan and Korea and only two positions higher than Mexico. Are these really the countries with which we want to share something in common? What happens if Republicans keep cutting taxes? Well, say goodbye to public schools, our military, police, fire fighters, first responders, emts, road and bridge maintenance, Social Security, Welfare, (settle down, Republicans, NOT Corporate Welfare...That kind of welfare is A-OK with Republicans! 92 Billion in 2006 alone went to Corporate Welfare) HeadStart Programs, etc., etc. Check out wikipedia.org for the "starve the beast" theory.

How do you end oppressive and self-destructive government policies if the supporters of each party claim to support half of the bigger scheme and attack the other half?

For example: The war on drugs and the war on poverty.

In reality, its the same war. It uses welfare, HUD, and prisons to keep the poor and minorities in their place.

Conservatives will attack welfare and HUD, but will always come out pro- law & order and for whatever increases 'safety' and 'security' and 'order.'

Democrats will attack the war on drugs occasionally but they will defend HUD and welfare to death even if the net result of it is growing ghettos and a growing gap between rich and poor.

Politically speaking, if the goal of our government is to oppress the poor and minorities by playing on the best intentions of the voting population, they've won.

Otherwise, if their goal is to actually trying to represent our wishes, they're just screwing everything up.

Which is it, and which is worse?

Then I got another laugh as Paul continued to school Hannity on the finer points of what Republican party is supposed to stand for.
