steadily pass a bunch of laws and make a lot of policies that drive the country over the edge of a precipice (see foreclosures, tradebudget deficits, illegals, perpetual warfare, etc...) and then ...they will come back and say they are the ones to take us out of the dire straights and they will blame the rest of the world as conspiring against the USA, and say that we will have to help the world to become more like the USA by force, and get them before they get us.?

Fox reported that "Al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden will soon address the American people regarding the sixth anniversary of the September 11 attacks, terror monitoring groups have said.The SITE Intelligence Group said an internet announcement included a photo of Bin Laden from the upcoming video which showed his beard...

This is definitely something the government sends out routinely and deliberately prior to the coming 9/11 to scare and indoctrinate the American people.

You know what, America has become fascist since WWII ended. Most Americans don't know, because they live in USA. But for those countries that are devastated by American imperialist quest for global dominance, they know by heart america is becoming increasingly fascist and undemoncratic.

No, it's bad leadership. While the amnesty will have to go through for no other practical reasons than that it's bad for business and the government can't repatriate twelve million people, it is not based on humanitarianism but economic opportunism and political alliances with special-interest groups. I am not against multiculturalism, different languages and legal immigration, but I am against (insert your ethno-religious group here) special-interest groups.

For those intent on comparing Bush's America to previous incarnations of totalitarianism, I would argue that his vision is more akin to Franco's than to Hitler's. It is an America where the powerful have more to gain from the depoliticization of the populace, the slide into cynical, quiet, apathy, than they do from wholesale mobilization.
