I think both parties are out to lunch when it comes to the issues that face ordinary hard working americans. It seems the repukes give us corporate perks and welfare for the superrich while the demos overtax and don't stand up for the middle class. Any thoughts? Another thing that irritates me is that both parties cheat and lie to get there way in the quest for power... not for doing what is right. The lobbiests are running the country down the draing as well... theres too much money and not enough ideas. All of the presidential candidates on both sides are uninspiring. Cheer Me Up!

I'm still a registered Republican only because I have some nostalgic hope that the ghost of Reagan will somehow come back and possess the body of...anyone at this point. I voted Libertarian in 1996 and couldn't bring myself to go for a third party in 2000 or 2004 just because the votes were so close. Not that it mattered in the states where I was living, both were going to Gore & Kerry respectively.

2008 is going to be another nail biter and with the battle lines drawn so close nowadays, this would be the opportune time for third parties to emerge. 1912 saw something similar. The progressives were trying to pull from the left the Labor Unions and other fringe groups and also pull the Roosevelt supporters from the right. They didn't get enough of the left wing to make a difference and the Democrats rallied behind Wilson. See also Perot 1992 and Nader 2000.

A multi-issue 3rd party could rise if it played it's cards right. But not this go-around. If the 2008 election is as close as the last two, it could happen in 2012 if they organize the day after the 2008 election.

What needs to happen is a candidate straight from the middle-class needs to found. No Beltway insider, no governor, no senator, no big businessman...someone straight from Eastbumblefuck Kansas. The big question is "WHO". maybe some odd State Assemblyman or a Regional business owner. I don't know. It would have to be a grass roots movement. Big Business, PACs, the Labor Unions, and the major parties will try to shut this guy down...so he needs a boat load of cash coming in from the common people. It wil take four years, a lot of long hours on the bus, and sympathy from the media.

Every jackass in Washington is on someone's bankroll. Left and Right alike. It doesn't really matter. They all have big SUVs and houses in Georgetown, Arlington, Silver Spring, and Chevy Chase. They all get to take junkets and they all pass out the pork like it's a St.Louis BBQ.

You are exactly right in order to force a Governmental body to return to the fundamentals of the United States Constitution we must elect anyone but a democrat or republican. This will creat a better future. This is where I let you down - Americans are lemmings. They are not American Patriots - they are ill informed - and they will continue to drive to the polls and vote their party. We will continue to decline
