YOU would then be in control over the amount you pay for your Fed. taxes. The taxes you would pay would be determined by the cost of the consumer item. If you didn't want to pay the higher tax on a $200 pair of shoes you would have the choice of choosing a $25 pair with the lower tax.

I believe that Mahmoud Abbas and the Palestinian Authority are truly trying to maintain a peaceful co-existence with the Israelis. However, Hamas seems to be constantly attempting to undermine any tentative, fragile peace accord. What if Israel teamed up with the P.A. to forcibly disarm/destroy Hamas? This would eliminate a common foe, as well as help to create an atmosphere of unity between the two entities.

I am just celebrating getting a violation notice because I stated that supporters of the BNP are thugs. It does not surprise me because the BNP on the one hand go on about free speech and being able to say what they want about non-white people, while trying to restrict free speech because their feelings have been hurt by people making comments about them

On the Formosan Association for Public Affairs (FAPA) http://www.fapa.org/ website there is much info about Taiwan's plans to join the United Nations. Such plans are based on the (supposed) fact that ROC/Taiwan is already an independent sovereign nation. Is this true??

Taiwan had been ceded to Japan in 1895. In order for Taiwan to join the UN, three criteria appear most relevant. First, the officials in Taiwan must be able to produce an international treaty reference which clearly shows that the territorial sovereignty of Taiwan has been awarded to the ROC government. Second, clear evidence must be produced that Taiwan has been incorporated into the territory of the ROC via the procedures the ROC Constitution, Article 4. Third, there must have been a law passed by the Legislative Yuan authorizing the mass naturalization of native Taiwanese persons as ROC citizens.

Without these three criteria being met, how can ROC/Taiwan be considered an independent sovereign nation?

Because it seems that with all of the tied hands and political correctness in fighting this war we could had this thing wraped up and put to bed.

It's the U.S. Military people ! and we are looking atr this as a WAR it could have been more of a couple of slaps and over with . IF we fought the way we did in WW2.. But as you know the support back home was much stronger back then. And this country was more United in a cause.

Because aside of all of the complaining about the government and this country that I am hearing - seems like some of you would rather live in another country.

Ane if the government and this country has let you down in some way or another at least you have the power to make a change.

You Libs out there seem that the Republican society is closing in on you when in reality it is the ebb and flow of political differences.
Why else do you see people climbing over each other to get into this country ?

It would be interesting to see how one would be treated by a government at the first sign of someone lashing out either the Govt. or the leader.
