Our current situation is that we are being jihaded upon by fanatics who claim their religion forces them to kill us. Why do we then "respect" their religion during interrogation or internment? If we take them at their word then their religion is hideous, barbaric and incompatible with freedom and liberty, why do we respect it at all then? Why do they get Korans, arrows pointing to Mecca, and halal meals?

I don't have one iota of sympathy for the rights of madmen to practice a religion they use to justify slaughtering innocents. I see no reason why we should feel any obligation to cater to their wishes to have their hate literature to comfort them. If that's what the book means to you, then too bad, so sad. Here's some copies of Maxim magazine, knock yourself out. I think we should tread lightly in using the Koran itself against them, just out of our interest in not unnecessarily riling up Muslims everywhere.

all we had to do is remove the restrictions on drilling in America? We will have all the oil we need to import from the Middle East.

1)Thanks in part to Ted Kennedy's objection to the Cape Wind project, wind-power projects all over the country have ground to a halt.
2)Joe Kennedy wants to build a wind farm on Canada's most important bird watching areas but not in Massachusetts.
3)Democratic lawmakers have introduced a bill to make an Alaskan wildlife refuge into a permanently protected wilderness. That would end repeated efforts to make some of the area available to energy companies. Congressman Edward Markey ,says drilling there would be a declaration that the U.S. is in denial about what he calls an addiction to oil.

why do some American's give this administration credit for preventing additional attacks, especially considering that they have done nothing to secure our borders or deport unregistered guests, and that they attacked Iraq and Afghanistan instead of Saudi Arabia where the terrorists came from, is there proof of thwarted attacks? Isn't it likely that no additional attacks were planned and that this was just one small group of radical thinking people who are now dead?

They imply that our president and his cohorts are too incompetent to prevent attacks against the homeland if we leave Iraq. That's why they say if we quit the war we will bring the fight to America. Realistically-speaking, a competent government and Intelligence wouldn't allow that to happen.

So I don't get it. Do republicans believe that our government is unable to provide any homeland security beyond our mere presence in Iraq? They certainly are implying it...but they aren't admitting it.

Hell 70% of Americans are less than 3 paychecks away from losing everything and being homeless yet they act it could never happen to them.

I had a friend who was laid off and lost his home six months later. Was he addicted to drugs/alcohol? No!!! Was he lazy? No, he worked 60 hours a week before being laid off. He couldn't find a job because these picky-as-hell companies won't give anyone a chance unless they are 110% perfect and the temp jobs he found only paid for about a third of his expenses. The only reason he wasn't on the streets because I let him in and he just helps with some of the utilities.

Why are people so ignorant about the homeless? When you work for a living it could happen to you anytime.

My wife and I are both in the Army and we make combined under 50 grand. I checked something out on the IRS website and it said we are getting like 400 bucks back. That cannot be right. I know next year we get a $3000 tax credit, since we are having a baby in June. This year is not making any sense. I have been voting Republican all this time-what happened-did they screw me?

WASHINGTON: The Bush administration is expected to announce this week a major step forward in the building of the country's first new nuclear warhead in nearly two decades. It will propose combining elements of competing designs from two weapons laboratories in an approach that some experts argue is untested and risky.

This was first reported in 2003. It's now coming to fruition.

At the same time, the nation's nuclear lab chief, Linton Brooks, a former ambassador and arms-control negotiator was asked to resign...

Another article states that Congress has no authority to change course in the war by cutting funding. The president in fact has complete authority as Commander-in-Chief...

This scares me-it seems like the Cold War never ended...

They think he is so competent and able to thwart any attacks with our "great homeland security". But then, they contradict themselves and say that if we left Iraq our president can't prevent attacks. That implies that they believe our homeland security is coming entirely from our presence in Iraq. Even though there is much evidence that Iraq is making us less safe...Although they also say that our president has increased security in domestic ways. Those two mindsets are contradicting.
WHICH ONE IS IT???
This also means they are belittling our Intelligence's ability to intercept attacks.
Get your facts straight republicans. You can't have it both ways. Either our president and his cohorts are too incompetent to prevent attacks against the homeland (such as 9/11) if we leave Iraq...OR...he is competent enough to prevent attacks against the homeland if we leave Iraq with our alleged homeland security that he allegedly provided us all with.
WHICH ONE IS IT?? STOP THE CONTRADICTIONS!!!

Do you look around you and see there are two classes of people here, the ones who now have poor jobs and no medical care, and those who are in administrative/political positions, earning $100,000 or more, (much more in benefits)? Some might answer very arrogantly about my statements - those are the ones!
