war what is it good for???

2007-01-07 07:42:49 · answer #1 · answered by Amaya T 2 · 0 3

Good

1. We needed to enforce the cease fire we had with Saddam after the Gulf War. Part of that agreement was to allow UN Weapon Inspectors to see if he was developing more WMD's. The UN passed 19 UNENFORCED resolutions. Why would Saddam or any bad guys respect us if we did not enforce what we said?

2. We needed to get rid of Saddam (which we should have done in 1991. He harbored terrorists and murdered his people.

3. The only way to end terrorism is to defeat it with force. Negotiating does not solve any problem. I asked a question on this a little while ago and the answers will say a lot.

4. Had Saddam gotten a nuke, he would have used it on Israel and then the US.

These are pretty powerful reasons. The media has distorted a lot of it.

The reasons why people are against the war are all bad ones. I will give the ones I hear and explain why they are wrong.

1. We create more terrorists by being there. FLAT OUT FALSE.

2. We had no right to be there. Note my above answers.

3. He did not have WMD's. Also false. He gassed Kurds in the 1990s, which he was not allowed to have those weapons after the Gulf War. These were WMD's. They were weapons, they caused mass death aka destruction. Blows that out of the water.

4. The Middle East is far away and the problems stay there. Funny how we had the same attitude in WW2. Also, they attacked us on 9-11. They are not staying there.

Saddam is out of power. He's no long able to attack his neighbors unprovoked, order mass murders, or welcome terrorists with open arms. Palestinian suicide bombers have lost some backing.

The Iraqi people are free. Many have basic utility services that they haven't had for over a decade. Schools and banks are being rebuilt--most were bombed or taken over before the war. Banks are printing a new currency minus Saddam's mug.

The children's prisons are empty. The possibilty of Kurdish women and children filling more mass graves across Iraq is now next to zero.

Resolution 1441 has been enforced, thus lending huge credence to the UN.

There are some things that are completely bad. The Iraq war is one of them and I won't bore you with all the reasons why. You probably know a lot of them and I'll let the other people fill in those blanks. In order to find some good you have to look to accidental details. Like the peace mom finding strength and purpose. Feel good stories like soldiers saving people.

The neo conservative agenda experiment being exposed for what it is so that illegal wars like this don't happen again. Sometimes it takes a major step back for a bigger step forward. Hopefully America will learn from its mistakes and never start a war like this again. But in order for that to happen a lot of right wing citizens have to snap out of their intellectual haze. The Iraq war could be that galvanizing event.

Hope it helps. Good luck with the paper.

our belief that every human being deserves the right to freedom and life w/o a dictator is a reason we are there. There was no way for us to be prepared for the revolts of the insurgents. something that is proving almost impossible to deal with. I believe that, as president Bush says, we're there, let's stay the course and give the Iraqis a chance to build a free and united country. their hatred for eachother runs deep and it may take awhile to get the job done but their people deserve the freedoms we have!

Write about your personal feeling about the war
in general and Iraq in particular and all what you need to do is to flip the coin and look at the other side and see if you accept any country to come into your country to remove your president for any reason, occupy the country
and decide the country's future.
What would you do ?

First, get a good book on thesis writing, with rules.
Then use your own common sense to figure out what happened during the last election in this country.
Positive is that Saddam is no longer in charge.
Negative is that Saddam is no longer in charge.
Then evaluate why Israel would want the USA to attack any country in the middle east, and you will have the basis for your paper.
