My grandmother is in a nursing home. She has to pay $ 6.200 every month. They even put every diaper extra on the bill, even she already pays so much. That nursing come gets rich in that they employ cheap immigrants / aliens without health care insurance. They rip of all old people. Nursing homes have extremely exaggerated prices in the USA. The government should set a limit for all nursing homes.

My granny is very sick. She feels bad when she smells anything like deodorant, soap etc. She needs oxygen and really needs a single bad room. She also is snoring every night. She could not sleep with another patient in one room. Her account is shrinking very fast. If all her money is used and she has nothing, all her life time savings and assets wasted for a nursing home, who earns too much, she will get Medicaid. Medicaid will pay $ 2.000 less.

Why are you not allowed to point out that these people would be doing much better if they it weren't for their drug habits, mostly (alcohol and cigarettes, if not worse, like meth) and bad money management? The conservatives are right about this. I've seen first hand how they waste their money, smoke in the house with children, sometimes even asthmatic children...

How can you say people don't deserve to be poor when they have free will to spend their money as they please?

This is remarkable. This building fell strait down at relatively free fall speed on 9/11. This was the third building to collapse at the complex that day. It was not hit by a plane and only had two small known fires. Keep in mind that this building had 24 core support columns and looked like a controlled demolition. The owner of the building, Larry Silverstien even said in a PBS documentary that it was pulled. Take a look at the video and ask yourself, why have i not seen this on the news? No steel framed building had ever collapsed because of fire, so why not question the collapse of WTC 7. 3000 ppl died on 9/11 and I think we deserve the truth and a new investigation.

You know - the one where her attitude, body language, and words convey the fact that she's clearly right and anybody who disagrees with her is dead wrong.

I think the last six years of apparent personality transformation is just that: apparent - but not real. I don't believe personality transplants are possible for folks in their sixth decade on this earth.

Assuming the old Hillary surfaces during the '08 primaries or in the presidential campaign how do you think it will play with swing voters? Will they be put off by it / will it break down by gender / or by region? What do you think?

After watching the evening news, one news story in particular prompted this question. NBC news reported that former inhabitants of public housing destroyed by hurricane Katrina in New Orleans, were demanding that housing projects destroyed in the storm be refurbished despite the cost to the tax payer.(because that is ultimately who pays for public works projects) What gives, how on Earth can an adult demand that they receive free or reduced cost housing at the expense of other people?
At what point in time did the responsible, employed and productive become responsible for the able but unwilling?

They also have children, smoke in the house, many times do other drugs and drink LOTS of soda. Now, that's not counting if all the residents in the house smoke, in which case it would be much more.
But, a conservative estimate per day is: A pack of cigarettes is about $4. A six pack of beer is about $4. and two liters of soda is about $2.
Now, I've estimated that this adds up to $10, conservatively. Which then adds up to about $300. a month. This is not accounting for the drug taking which may add on about $50-$100 per month. This isn't even counting in many of their scratch off ticket gambling money wasting.
I know many people crying about money and debt who are living like this. They don't give their kids crap, because they are so selfish.
Don't you think it's hard to feel sorry for people like this, I feel way more sorry for the children.
But the poor in America could save themselves a lot of money by adjusting their spending habits.

We are talking hundreds of $$$.

.....especially if you smoke in the house with your kids who are gasping for air, and you drink their food, do you then especially deserve to be poor?

The kids don't, of course.

or do you just like being poor?

or is every poor conservative just on his way to success and making a quick stop at "poor" for the moment?

The Social Security department takes money from young people in order to pay older people their social security. After all the money is paid to the old people, the left over money is marked down in a book and then loaned to other government agencies. There isn't any real money in the social security "surplus". So, when the current youth gets old enough to warrent receiving social security, how's it going to be paid? The options are this: to collect on the loans to other government agencies (unlikely that these agencies will cut costs, taxes that pay for these agencies with rise), or to raise the payroll taxes that currently pay for social security. Either way the future working population is doomed to pay more taxes. You may say, "The companies that pay their workers will end up paying more of the tax, and this will only hurt the big evil corporations." But, these corporations would either have to raise prices or cut wages. So...How is social security a good idea?

People have the idea from youth that to brainwash someone, you put a domed metal thing on their heads and wires plugged in and a switch thrown and fizz. As in cartoons. But do you know that the real life brainwashing comes from the mass media and there are no wires involved and about 90% of the masses are prone to this type of subtle mind control. So what you think is mainstream thinking is really the hand of Government?

After all there are far fewer ruling class, then the vast majority just getting by! Don't buy into these narrow minded people who say oh you can't come after my money. They can keep thier money its just going to have a fair way of getting distributed under majority rule & control, instead of unfair wealthy minority control.

Do they walk the talk, or simply believe in their way of life and are intolorant of those with different views and beliefs?
