does it it take a genius to guess that the people of iraq would not except the westren way of life without a fight, a big fight, wasn't it niave to believe they would greet us as liberators, shouldn't the most powerful man in the world have had a little better insight into the situation before he jumped in

George Bush will go down in history as the worst and most inept President of the United States.
G. Bush is power hungry and has dictatorial tendencies. He is destroying the quality of American life by bankrupting us so that he might change the world. You cannot change what and who does not want to be changed.

Well, the idea of bringing democracy to the middle east starting from Iraq was a good one. This was also assure the US of middle east oil and contain Iran, if not remove the mullahs from there eventually. It would spread western culture and remove the stranglehold of the despotic rulers, in favor of western corporations.
But the implementation of the plan either incorrect or done in haste.
Not enough troops were used during the war and after the war - too much faith in the mechanization. Not enough planning, for example, for the veterans after the war. No real help taken from the Europeans or NATO because Bush wanted to keep control for himself. Rather than combat troops, not enough police were used to keep the peace after the war. Even during the war, the army was not fully disarmed. Many just disappeared by removing their uniforms or crossing borders into other countries. Borders with Iran, Syria etc were not cut off - the terrorists had free flow. The mullahs were running rampant and had free reign. Just hating Saddam was not a good enough reason to go to war, because the WMD excuse fell down like a pack of cards. The intelligence used for planning the war seemed to be completely flawed.
They probably should have used the same nation building model used after World War II with Germany and Japan. Initially have martial law, then limited autonomy and finally democracy. Not enough time was given to the process and incubation time for democracy to develop. The military could have been used to dominate the country initially so that there would have been no opposition and subjudicate the terrorists. Too much leeway to the religious leaders and others having their own militias. Too much of a PR battle trying to show they were not against Islam, they did not confront the priests. All the various factions such as Kurds and Sunnia and the various Shia militiras were allowed to run free and no worry about keeping Iraq united.
What ends up happening is the more than 50% Iraqis have no jobs and all they get is security work. There is not enough oil production. And religious tolerance is gone away. I don't know how they will come up with a peaceful democratic solution now.

because Bush isnt a good president and going to Iraq is unjustified therefore that why the whole " War against terrorism" is such bullsh*t. The Iraqi people didnt want inteference within there own country therefore thats why there is so much resistence and thats why America and other tyrannt countries will never succeed in Iraq.

Iraq is a mess because the Iraqi people are not stepping up and taking care of the problems in their country, instead letting others step in to do their work for them.
And if international politics was as simple as you seem to think they are, you really need to get out more often and see the world.

Those people who ever believed in Bush and company, or even in WMD or Democracy, they have a bigger mess in their heads compared to Iraq.
