People have the idea from youth that to brainwash someone, you put a domed metal thing on their heads and wires plugged in and a switch thrown and fizz. As in cartoons. But do you know that the real life brainwashing comes from the mass media and there are no wires involved and about 90% of the masses are prone to this type of subtle mind control. So what you think is mainstream thinking is really the hand of Government?

The problem with your conclusion, with all due respect, is the government has little control over mass media content. Granted they have a say in profanity and sexual content, but as far as political brainwashing, no not really. That is a problem in state run media outlets in middle eastern countries and some Asian countries, but not in the US. There is a conflict in some European countries, but I doubt as bad as the control that say N. Korea or China has over content. That is because most western media is privately versus government run.

That being said, yes, there is predominately a bias in media, news and entertainment, both written and visual, and that bias is mostly liberal.

One can go through life and encounter mainly a only liberal viewpoint. The exception is the Internet, where one can get closer to a 50/50 perspective.

So to the point, I trust the media more in the west than the east, but a healthy dose of skepticism is a good thing.

I've been aware of this for years and is why I do not watch mainstream television. I strictly watch PBS where there are no commercials... this includes a wide range of shows also. Everything from cooking shows to news. I also keep myself very aware of the words ppl say.

For example, have you noticed recently that Bush now refers to the democratic party as the democrat party. I heard this on PBS The Newshour where an analyst was explaining that is something he got from Rush L. as a jab at the democrats.

Little things like that can slide by your conscious but your subconscious picks them up... which is the point you are making.

Brainwashing is not all obvious, and you don't have a choice whether you get sucked in or not. It can also be very subtle.
People relax when they watch most tv and go into a state of hypnosis. Thats when we're most suggestible.
Plus its in our homes where we let our guard down and relax.

There is a myth that you can't hypnotise someone against their will, or force them to do something against their will.
If that were tru then stage hypnotists would not be able to get a person to eat a raw onion while imagining it were an apple. Try eating a raw onion and acting like you enjoy it.

No.
Just communication in pictures.
Just living human kind at loss with our creator's communication system could not differentiate between fantasy and reality or ghost stories in planet of apes.
Some just blindly following the life-styles of the rich and famous in making a misery out of themselves when it is just an entertainment show took for granted that should be the way in chasing the great American dreams turning into smokes and ashes in planet of apes.

lazy is the one word that best describes most people in america. there are some of us that realize that tv is slowly degrading our society by trying to make acceptable the things that used to be considered immoral. think about it. when you go back through tv history what do you find. the big thing on happy days was inspiration point where they used to "neck". now, we have tv shows like sex in the city that are built around - well - sex. we used to have leave it to beaver and the brady bunch that focused on family values, but now we have married with children, the simpsons, and family guy that make a weak family model the norm today. unless most of us wake up and realize how our families are being attacked by tv programs that are being used as babysitters, we are a nation that is doomed to the lowest common denominator

i think your right, the capitalist country we live in are creating the demand for their supply, and they do this through the mass media. its very marxist, they do this on purpose as they know the youth are extremely sensitive to this kind of conditioning. look at banduras bobo doll experiment. that confirms it in my eyes. and the predictable must have toy that comes out every yr. the real question is what can we do about it?

The oldest and most effective way to brainwash is buy using repetition. Catch phrases said over and over.....it appears to be working. Scary stuff.
