"The Privilege of the Writ of Habeas Corpus shall not be suspended, unless when in Cases of Rebellion or Invasion the public Safety may require it." (Article One, section nine of the U.S. Constitution).
We are not labeled as having any kind of "rebellion" or being "invaded". So all arguements to suspend the habeas corpus can be disregarded by looking at the legal standpoint of the issue.
Sorry, I'm just a liberal who respects the Constitution too much to let our government tamper with it.

How come they haven't been able to attack us yet?
Especially with the sectarian violence and the rest of the chaos, it wouldn't make a difference for the safety of our homeland if our troops are there or not.

Habeas Corpus defined:
http://www.lectlaw.com/def/h001.htm

The Military Commissions Act gives our government the right to detain anyone indefinitely who their paranoid little minds find to be suspicious. That sounds pretty darn Un-American to me.

Claiming to "believe" in evolution, like it was a relgion, is not what I am referring to. I am asking what impact on ones political identity does a thourough understanding of evolution create?

In my mind, it clearly would push someone towards the right, I dont see how it could not. After all, if religion is a farse, then why constrain the necessity of "survival" the pacifism of Christian morality which is based on a farse? Why love your enemy, as the left does? Arent leftists mostly Christian?

As Nietzsche advised, I would throw away this "slave morality" which slows human progress and create my own, more rational moral code. Like for example: Peace is always in the interest of the community so long as the policy or means doesnt iteself create significant danger.

Leftist morality is derived from a noxious blend of Christian morality, Marxism, and weakness. To truely understand evolution is to vomitt at the very thought of such a view.

No I am not a conspiracy nut ,but my 16 year old is asking these questions that I cant answer.?
1)Bush has admitted that Saddam and Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11 in a recent press conference
2)the FBI has admitted that it has no hard evidence connecting Osama to the 9/11 attacks
3)the Binladen 'confession 'tapes are conclusive in that it is not Bin Laden in those pics
4)intelligence has admitted that it has found no link between Osama and Saddam.
So my kid asks me"who did attack then if we know all these things are true and verifiable?"
What do I tell him?

How is he even qualified to comment on Iran, when they owned him! For a year and a half he was completely inept in "talking to them," during the Iranian hostage crisis.

1. Our government has no humility.
2. The Bush Administration still doesn't want to change course.
3. If they admitted it was a civil war, Halliburton and other corporations would have to pull out of Iraq, thus reducing Bush's and Cheney's profit margins.

Do you think we support Israel too much and if so, why? Should we also arm the Syrians, Egyptians, Jordanians so they can fight back?
Israel has this huge army and air force complete with the latest weaponry. They used that to kill innocent children in Lebanon.

This Q is partly inspired by an ongoing controversy I am having with an Answerer outraged by my sexual life choice and claiming that America is a more moral place than the rest of the world.

The new president of Chile is a divorced single mother whose first child was a premarital pregnancy and 3rd child was an extra-marital product of a short fling. In France the presidential candidate of the left is a never-married mother of four and the presidential candidate of the right has a wife who openly has another male lover. Do you think that George W. Bush admonishes them?

Oooh...it has to be 2 factions fighting against each other to gain political control in order to be considered a civil war...
Gimme a break! Tony Snow, the presidential BS justifier (a.k.a. the "press secretary") and others (including some in the UN such as Kofi Annan) are just in denial.
So what if there are 3 main factions fighting for control (Shia, Sunnis, and Kurds)? It's STILL a civil war! As a matter of fact, it's not like all 3 groups get along within each other. There are more like 16 factions according to recent reports. If this is not a civil war, then it sure as hell is A LOT worse!!!
If this is not a civil war, I don't want to see what one looks like.
I believe our government needs to face facts that their foreign policy fiascos caused a huge civil war, which is destabilizing the entire world (including our nation to some extent).
