The point is not how the Act is implemented, it is just the mere fact that the government has this ability that is despicable.

Al Franken (horrible name for that person), thinks going against the Constitution for the war is just fine.
C=JD is talking about NAZIs, and I am talking about U.S. citizens.
Goodtimes does not understand the depth of the Act, and what it can do.
My God...

The Habeas Corpus is in the Constitution for God's sakes! I knew it!!!! Republicans do NOT care what the government does to raise their powers during this wartime!

I think that if you change the constitution in any way to suit the terrorist threat then the terrorist have won. While maybe not a threat from this president it could be in the future and I know I would not like the gestapo knocking down my door and taking me away and locking me up without due process. This is an awful law and people who say it is all right to change the constitution are traitors to the American way of life. Our freedoms are precious and should not be written away without a fight. I hope that even with the Supreme court being a right wing majority that they will throw this law out as being what it is and that is unconstitutional.

We don't the POW's we have in the war on terror will be released as soon as the war on terror is over and returned to their country of citizenship. Have either we, or alquda surrendered and I was not told? If not then the war is not over and under the terms of the Geneva convention we have to hold them till the end of the war. We would not want to violate the Geneva convention, now would we? Oh and constitutional rights like Habeas Corpus are for US citizens and those who come here with papers, and who are not alquda.

It's not "despicable" at all. You view it that way because you appear to know nothing about military history.

Soldiers are held during wars indefinitely to prevent them from returning to the battle field and causing more harm. (Nazis were not released until after WWII.) If anything, this is an intelligent strategy that minimizes deaths and casualtes.

___________

American citizens are not being detained indefinitely. Terrorists are. I used the Nazi example to illustrate that fact that what we are doing now has been done in the past.

Because they are evil.
Are you aware of the concentration camps being built for US citizens who disagree with the government? I have pictures/videos and all the details.

Plenty of democrats think it's ok too. But, you don't care about that I bet. I've said this before and it applies here. You are passionate about this issue, it is clear. Get off your ideological posterior, step outside your comfort zone, and get involved in your government. Slinging mud achieves nothing except getting your hands dirty.
