How come they haven't been able to attack us yet?
Especially with the sectarian violence and the rest of the chaos, it wouldn't make a difference for the safety of our homeland if our troops are there or not.

The person is your link is a U.S. citizen. I was actually talking about the prisoners in Iraq. I'm surprised you didn't realize that.

Do your really expect an honest answer from the repuglicans on this one. Bush with his ill advised attack of Iraq has created more terrorist then Osama could ever do. I might add that this attack on a sovereign country has lowered our stature in the entire world. Not many country's or rather their people agree with Iraq is part of the war on terror and as a matter of fact there are not many in this country that have bought into this propaganda. Just those faithful followers of Rush Limbaugh and there you just have to consider the source as anybody that listens to him has got to be mentally diminished.

Well I'm not a republican, I live in Europe, what I can see from here is , dear Steve, there is a very ignorant bunch (say millions) of people there and they are being used by Bush. They're being used by patriotism, fear of terrorism and religion. I see, educated and smart people can see it and they already support democrats. Good thing is day by day dems are getting more popular and more people are reaching the level of intelligence to see the truth. So the answer for your question has many aspects but one big aspect is "ignorance".
You see how many republicans on Yahoo and how many of them on Slashdot, think about that.

first of all your position is fairly common in the democratic party, of which i am a member. that being said, not all democrats support that view. to be sure, while our soldiers are in iraq and afghanistan, they will be fighting large groups of the types of people you are asking about. make no mistake , our soldiers will kill large numbers of them and before you start pointing out the deaths of innocent civillians, remember , it is the terrorists who violate the geneva convention, by not wearing uniforms and by hiding among civillians using them as human shields.
further, you are merely fixating on a small part of the global war on terror. in addition to the wars in iraq and afghanistan, the battle rages in asia, africa and europe as well as in south america! these are military conflicts as well as massive criminal and anti-terror investigations. so it is not just the iraq conflict that contains the so called non contained, but an ongoing international effort,as well.
be assured , if we were not killing them in iraq and afghanistan, they would be free to target us here at home.
one final thought..before 9-11, we were neither in iraq or afghanistan. that makes arguments that the terrorists attack us because we are in their country, not only untrue, but foolish as well.
pulling the USA under the blanket of isolationism and non intervention does not protect us or prevent acts of terror.
as a democrat, i truly wish one of our oun had the stomach and plan for this war, but so far only pres. bush has had the honesty to tell us that this new war is going to be long, dirty and expensive...while that may not be what you wanted to know....that is the sad truth for all americans and civallized nations to face.

So far we have foiled their plans with Intel. Why do you think we are questioning the prisoners?
Why is it that Liberals don't understand the word covert? Sorry I watch Fox News and they report the botched terrorist attempts, especially the big one in London. Why do you think the Leftist are so angry about water boarding? We used water boarding to get Intel and it worked. Just do a google search if you want to know the facts.
