How is he even qualified to comment on Iran, when they owned him! For a year and a half he was completely inept in "talking to them," during the Iranian hostage crisis.

My feeling is that Jimmy Carter was a decent man, a nice guy. Unfortunately, that character trait is likely to be a hindrance in doing the job of being President of this country. Eagle Claw was indeed a horribly flawed plan and executed poorly at best. When the first helicopter went down, it should have been called back. I do believe he was ineffectual. Having your heart in the right place does not mean you make the best decisions. He sure seemed to give forth a persona of a weak leader.

As a kid, arriving home from school day after day, seeing the news reports of the Iranian hostage crisis then hearing of the failed rescue attempt; even at a young age I knew Carter for what he is: ineffectual.

Charlie Beckwith took the heat for Carter's caving to the JCOS's recommendations during planning of the rescue operation, Eagle Claw I believe it was called. My opinion, of course.

Carter has an addled brain and big mouth. He screwed up the Middle East so badly, He manged to help get Sadat assassinated. Everything went downhill from then on.

I remember he was the first president I voted for, so I believed all the promises on energy, etc. What a pile of stinking garbage!

They didn't own Carter, Reagan is the one who did the deal for the hostages. And, don't forget iran/contra - oh yeah, Reagon "couldn't recollect" if Ollie North told him we were breaking the law selling all those weapons to Iran.

You meant to say Ronald Reagan right? He was owned by Iran and refused to take any military action against them like Carter tried to do.

Reagan gave the Iranians arms in an effort to appease Hezbollah who was holding American hostages they took in Lebanon. Didn't work.

You're quoting the right wing talking point word for word. He knows a hell of a lot more about Iran than you or I do.
