The GOP (grand oil party) would have us believe these lower gasoline prices reflect lower demand and not that they think we will forget the gauging and vote republican. Reminds me of in the Army 2 weeks b4 the inspector came around how the food improved, the mail was on time, we got more time to ourselves. The worst part was the vast majority immediately forgot all the BS and then when the inspector left back to the lousy food, no more turkey for us. How bout you do you like turkey or are you one???

I just finished reading the Yahoo! article on Shaker Aamer. He is a detainee at the Guantanamo prison whose lawyers claim has become mentally unstable as a result of long-term solitary confinement and repeated and rather harsh beatings and abuse. That he now cares for insects that were in his room and can no longer function properly. On top of that, there is supposed to be strong evidence of him being innocent (though not conclusive yet). I'm curious as to what others think of this story. Whether it is true about the abuse, and if so what we should do about it? And if you don't think it to be true, what we should do about him trying to take advantage of the situation he is in? For the record, I myself think it is true about the abuse and that he should be taken to trial already and allowed to see the evidence against him. If he is capable of doing so (mentally competent), he should be allowed to defend himself (and released, but only if found innocent based on the evidence).

The rape of Indigenous women was commonplace during the conquest of the Americas. Even Columbus wrote in his diary that he raped an Indigenous woman. Columbus also knew that he could control his lieutenants by providing women for them. He wrote that his lieutenants preferred girls around ten years old.

Stannard writes that this behavior reflects the "demonstration of power and the degredation of both the victims and her loved ones."

How did the rape of Indigenous women and children reflect power and control over all Indigenous People?

In the whole middle east ,most parts of the world & even Israel,
excluding english speaking countries " yahudi" is a common &
ordinary namame for a hebro origin person.
Not printing this word in webster's or other european dictionaries,
and calling them by "sh" at the end of yahud or jewhood like scottish ,Irish & english, is discriminatory to other ethnics which are in webster's because yahudis are holly, superior heavenly from
adam& eve while the rest of the world are proved to be hominoids.!?

The first world countries are the countries that are the most industrialized. This would include a higher GDP per capita than $15,000. There are not quit as many countries in the “first world” as the “second world”, for the requirements are quit hard to achieve. This section of the world includes North America, Canada, and Western Europe; the first world also includes other industrialized capitalist countries such as Japan and some of the former British colonies, particularly Australia, and New Zealand.

Iran has given us the big middle finger! Why is no one doing anything about it? Personally, I say take it out. They can't be developing nuclear capabilities with good intentions.....

18 months ago France, Germany, Russia and the US were all in agreement that Iran had to dismantle its nuclear program.

TEHRAN, March 5: Iran's top nuclear official on Saturday warned the United States and Europe of the danger of an oil crisis if Tehran is sent before the UN Security Council over its nuclear programme, but said that a deal with Europe could be near.

"The first to suffer will be Europe and the United States themselves, this would cause problems for the regional energy market, for the European economy and even more so for the United States," Hassan Rowhani, whose country is the second largest oil producer in OPEC, told reporters.

Mr Rowhani, who was speaking at a conference in Tehran on nuclear technology and sustainable development, however expressed optimism that an agreement would be reached with Europe over the development of Iran's nuclear programme.

EU members Britain, France and Germany are trying to convince Iran to dismantle nuclear fuel work - which the United States says is part of a covert atomic weapons development - in return for economic and political rewards.

"If US pressure doesn't prevent it, I think we will manage to reach an agreement with the Europeans because they don't want to deprive the Iranian people of their right and will try to act fairly," Mr Rowhani said.

Britain, France and Germany are seeking "objective guarantees" from Iran.

Rowhani warned the US that it could destabilize the region if it blocks an accord with Europe. If Washington brings the issue before the Security Council, "Iran will retract all the decisions it has made and the confidence-building measures it has taken."

He said Iran's leaders "could be called upon to make new decisions", but did not provide any details on what that would involve. "The stability in the region would become fragile and the United States would be the first to suffer," he said.

In return for a permanent halt to uranium enrichment, the EU is offering Iran a package of incentives covering trade, security and technology.

Mr Rowhani has however refused to put an end to uranium enrichment. "We cannot have and we will not have negotiations with the Europeans if what they want is an end" to uranium enrichment. "We will not continue the talks for one single minute, we have made it very clear to Paris and Berlin," he said.-AFP

Now the US is the sole member of this power block. What could be the reason? Certainly not promises of contracts to build new nuclear plants at the cost of billions of euros each. I can't believe they could back peddle that quickly just for a few billion euros.

3 levels of development

There were not always three levels of development, at one time there were only two levels they were the Eastern bloc and the Western bloc. After world war II people started using two terms first world and second world, but with much gray areas they began to notice they needed another specification so the third world was proclaimed in the 1950’s. Even now that we have the three levels there are still many countries that lie somewhere in the middle of some of them.
