They are not the same thing. The Declaration of Independence is a document saying officially that the colonies in America were saying they are no longer loyal to the British monarchy of the time (King George III). It also gives the reasons why they no longer felt it was right for them to remain loyal to the British crown.
The Constitution came after the Revolutionary war had been won. It basically says how the government in America was going to work. It set up the three branches (executive--president, legislative--Congress, and judicial--the Supreme Court), and it also set up the guidelines for the laws of America (what they could say and do what they could not say and do). It also set up how the power would be distributed among the branches of government and how they would prevent each other from taking too much power.
Personally I like the freedom of speech and the press part in the Bill of Rights (the first part of the Constitution). That is the most important one in my book because that is what is keeping America from becoming a dictatorship. As long as someone is out there pointing it out when the government tries to take too much power, others have a chance to listen to him and stop the government before it gains too much power and becomes unstoppable.

The Declaration was our Declaration of Independence from England. The Constitution set up the way our country was to be governed, notice I said was since the current admin has trampled all over the Constitution. The Bill Of Rights was and is the most important part.

The Declaration of Independence was the document that told England that the colonies were no longer going to be a part of the English government. The constitution of the United States was the document formed by the colonies after secession from England that is the basis for the American Government.

The Dec. Of Ind. was a break up letter with Great Britain saying all the reasons that the colnies should break up. Then there was a revolutionary war. We won. Then you have a government which was called the Articles of Confederation and that was too weak so the Constitution was created. The laws of America are written on it. So all laws created are referred to the constitution which is hte Supreme Law of the land.

Please type "US Constitution" in the search web box and read the wikipedia article and also "Declaration of Independence" and figure it out for yourself. Please do it for your country.
Hint: Separation of Powers and Bill of Rights.
People should also be aware that the US was organized under "The Articles of Confedertion" for the first six years after the war. The constitution was written to provide "a more perfect union" than we had under the "articles"

I think the First Amendment is the most important. Although others may not like what I (or any American) have to say, I (or any American) have the right to say it.
