Serving in the military is voluntary. If someone chooses to volunteer and serve in the armed forces, does anybody have the right to try and stop them? Personally, I support anyone who chosses to do something that he or she wants provided that it is not unlawful or illegal. Fascists are known for not allowing people the right to choose, the freedom to express themselves. It is tyranny. Does anyone have any thoughts?

My fiance is going into the Marines. He will be starting Basic Training in June. We will be married by the time he leaves for basic. When he is in basic training, how will I receive his BAH for his dependent(me)? Will it be given to him to send to me or will it be sent directly to me? When will this all be arranged?

If we went to Iraq for WMD and TERROR.Should we invade our own counties with troops on the streets to a iliminate our own home grown terrorists UK,USA,FRANCE,ITALY,SPAIN,GERMANY e.g. or would we get a bit worked up and fight back and blame soldiers for all our troubles or have we forgot about BRITAINS fight on TERROR in IRELAND in which no other counties help back.

I was told once that the Nat.Guard was originally formed as a state militia to protect the people from their own govt. If they are now under federal command, who protects us from a govt.gone bad? which really doesn't seem that far away sometimes.

I understand that Specialist and Corporal are pay grade E-4 and yet A) there are more Specialist than Corporals and B) all of the other branches have only one rank in the pay grade of E-4. So why can't the Army eliminate one of them?

In particular which part of the armed services should I join that will LEAST likely involve me having to see combat. Im there to get educated, not shot at by peasant Iraqis.

Also if I join, once Ive got my education sorted, how quickly can you leave the forces? I imagine there is some kind of minimum time period in which you have to stay in there.

why doesn't the goverment take prisoners and street gang fighters an send them to iraq instead good men that are worth marrying. then we would have a win win situation. they want to fight so give them a place to do it where inocent people don't get hurt.

My husband was in the Navy from 1988-1992 stationed in Norfolk, VA on the USS Tortuga LSD 46. He is looking for some buddies that were in with him. We have searched the main sites like military.com and others but could not find many friends. Does anyone have other options to locate a shipmate?

By that I mean, are they able to see them as they fall down from the gunshot wound they inflicted? or is it all from a distance? I quite fancy joining the army, if only so I can look an Iraqi in the eye, and say to him 'Time to die, scumbag' and blow him right across the Euphrates .....

Also do you keep like a scoreboard, so you know how many 'kills' youve achieved? Because Im a pretty crack shot with my air rifle, Id be suprised if I didnt manage to wipe out at least a dozen insurgents during a tour.

My husband has served proudly in the US Navy for 16 1/2 years. My question to you other military families is simple one. Are you frustrated that while our spouses are willing to put their lives on the line every day for our country that they are barely receiving enough income to make ends meet? That most military families can qualify for goverment subsidised programs to help them exsist. That while sports figures are making hundreds of thousands of dollars every time they play their prospective games and our deemed hero's to our children the men and woman that protect our country are all but overlooked. I am incredibly proud of my husband and what he does for our country. Unfortunately not to many people want to sign up for a job that demands so much and pays so little. What do you think?
