Ok, for those of us who are former service members you remember the speech about..."Well IRR (inactive ready reserve) is only if WWIII breaks out" VIETNAM VETS HAD ONE YEAR IN VIETNAM (in most cases if you are one of the rare ones who volunteered for two or three OOH-Rah to you, but I have done 2 in Iraq and I aint going back for a third) A lot of us have started jobs college and other things. The benefits are not worth 8 years when the rest of country is not doing their part and the military is desperate enough to tap unwilling soldiers and marines to do a job that most of us don't understand anymore...This is more venting than anything.... All I know is I have a little boy about to be born and they are talking about recalling those in my MOS because the recruiters can't get anyone else!!! GI BILL IS NOT WORTH 8 YEARS AND POSSIBLY YOUR ABILITY TO WALK!!! If I offended anyone I am sorry, but this is appauling and noone except for vets are noticing

is there any kind of substance that could be put into the food of soldiers at war to prevent them from getting the female soldiers pregnant, from? The reason I ask is that since my husband returned home from Iraq 7 months ago, not one of the soldiers in his unit has become pregnant, or gotten their wives pregnant, despite the fact that a lot of them have been trying to get pregant.

She was a friend in my unit who ended up getting killed. Nobody seemed to know what happened to her, and I was sent back to the States before C.I.D. finished their investigation. It's been several years now, and I occasionally wonder if they ever discovered what happened and if the culprit was ever brought to justice.

Our son is a Marine and he is in his last month of deployment in Iraq. He has been through a lot and has even been awarded the Purple Heart for injuries sustained in an attack. He is homesick and I want to do all I can to boost his moral. His name is Jason and it's his first tour over there. I have been sending him the messages that people have posted for him and he is in awe at the wonderful things everyone has said. I want to thank everyone who has taken the time to do this for him. We appreciate it so much!

Wow, just joining Yahoo Answers, and have already gotten a ton of good info. Great site! :) Anyway, ya know how e-mails are constantly circulating on that net with Fwd:Fw:Fw? Well I am friends with a lot of military folk,&got one today from one of my girlfriends whose hubby is in the military. Well the e-mail basically said that Cindy Sheehan, the woman who has been protesting at the Bush ranch...hasn't even gotten a tombstone for her son? Anyone else got this? Is this true? I would think the military would provide those things for their fallen soldiers...so that's why I wasn't sure if I should believe it or not because people lie a lot on e-mails. I honestly didn't want to believe that and i'm not judging the woman cause tombstones are probably expensive. But they have a pic of her son's grave...or what's supposed to be his grave and it looks so...just plain. Are there any funds where money can be donated to help her buy him a tombstone? I would donate for sure.

All my high up people say that the military is changing and all the jobs are slowly being changed to civilian contractors. Why would we run the government by civilians. I mean President Bush is a civilian but come on...

With the media coverage of the recall of Marines in the ready reserves the rumors are flying that this is the last step before instigating a draft. Do you feel the military will have do this? Why or why not?

I am not super strong or athletic, but I think I may have the mental determination to do it.... I was wondering if any of you have personal experience or first hand accounts you could offer me? I am nervous about this, but think this may be a good option for me to get some kind of perspective on my life. I am thinking of joining the Army Reserves.

Consider that of all countries now possessing H-bombs, Iran seems the safest:-.

- The US has far more than any one, has used them in the past and was ready to use them again at the Cuban crisis.
- The UK and France have poewrful navies, no one is likely to attack them and yet keep intervening in other countries' affairs.
- Russia now has enough problems of its own and is minding its own business.
- Pakistan has betrayed world trust and given atomic secrets to other Moslem countries. It also has a low key on going war with India.
- Israel launched surprise attacks on most of its Arab neighbours and appalling destruction on Lebanon.
- Iran never attacked anyone, yet is surrounded by enemy states and was the victim of Israeli bombing in the past and Sadam' invasion. Its only likely target is Israel which is far stronger.

- Are we becoming paranoic, or is Bush inventing deceptive bogus resons to justify a pre-planned attack on it, as he did in Iraq ?

Why was there no plan for post-invastion Iraq?
Why does Bush make it sound like the intention from day 1 was was to create an extended process of securing Iraq and establishing Democracy, when there was no talk of this before or during the invasion.
During the invasion it was all about removing Saddam from power and finding weapons of mass destruction. Remember? Part 1 completed, Part 2 confirmed false. Now what? Why are we still there?
Insurgents attack because we are a non-islamic power in the Middle East, and to them, we're a threat to their belief system.
They always do that, and they will keep doing it.
How many people think it is even possible to secure Iraq? And how long will it take, how many dollars, and how many lives? And what happens if 5-10 years later Iraq falls into extremist hands, will we be willing to go back yet again? (sorry about the rant, but I am very interested in serious replies)

I am sending encouraging letters to My friends in Iraq and thought it would be a good Idea to copy and paste some of your encouraging words to send them in a letter from home. They need to know that they are appreciated and remembered.

Since we are at war & "saving the people of Iraq", doesn't it make sense for us to get free or cheaper oil, after all we didn't start this war to just to go to war, or did we (a different subject). I think we should get some benefits from it. What do you think? And oh, I think if it pisses off OPEC & the Oil Gods. so be it, were spending our reserves , Blood, lives, family life & CASH to be there, its time for some interest, free oil would do it.

i do, many of thes men and women have been in the military for years and the bottom line is out of almost a million and half military personnel worldwide only close to 130,000 are in iraq and many of those are not 'boots to the ground'. i think ppl forget sometimes that our military is only here to fight if necessary but they also help rebuild schools, homes, keep peace, help out when natural disasters occur and work very hard and sacrifice much for not a lot in return. i think they deserve our thanks, support and gratitude no matter your opinion of the any administration or its actions. to the men and women of the armed forces i want to thank you....
