One can dissagree all they want with the war, but don't dissagree with the troops. They are doing their jobs, living in a military town I've seen the effects first hand of what war does and although our economy goes to hell when they leave we send them off with smiles not letting them know how we are crying inside and let them see us cry on their return. The troops fought for this country many times for the freedoms we have today... so if anything one must diss the war, not the fighters! here is a email i recieved this morning from a friend who is an army wife...pass it on
A Soldier Is:
Soldiers come in all shapes, shades, weights, sizes, and states of sobriety, misery, and confusion. He is sly as a fox, has the nerve of a dope addict, the stories of an old sailor, the sincerity of a politician, and the subtly of Mt. Saint Helen. He is extremely irresistible, totally irrational and completely indestructible.
A Soldier is a Soldier all his life. He is a magical creature. You
can kick him out of your house but not out of your heart. You can take him off your mailing list but not off your mind. soldier are found everywhere... in love...in battle... in lust... in trouble...in
debt...in bars and ... behind them. No one can write so seldom and yet think so much of you. No one else can get so much enjoyment out of a letter or clean clothes or a six pack.
A Soldier is a genius with a deck of cards. A millionaire without a cent and brave without a grain of sense. He is the PROTECTOR OF AMERICA, with the latest copy of playboy in his back pocket. When he wants something it's usually 30 days leave, music that hurts the ears, a five dollar bill...or a woman he can count on.
Girls love them, mothers tolerate them, fathers brag about them, the government pays them, the police watch out for them and somehow they all work together. You can beat their bodies but not their minds.
You can tame their hearts but not their souls. He likes girls,
females, women, ladies, and the opposite sex. He dislikes small
checks, working weekends, answering letters, missing chow, waking up, maintaining a uniform, and the day before payday.
You may as well give in. He is your long distance lover...he is
your steel eyed, warm smiling, blank minded, hyperactive, over reacting, curious, passive, talented spontaneous, physically fit, good for nothing bundle of worry.....
And will always be there for you regardless of how long its been since you've last talked.

I support the troops and what they are doing. No matter where they are at. They are out there trying to make a difference. Sure they can get a college education and they get a paycheck. Neither can be used if you are dead. So I don't really believe that they are only in there for that.
President Kennedy said "ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country"! I believe that is the kind of men and women he was talking to. The regular people who care about doing the right thing for our country.
Like you said they are all over the world, they have always been around the world. In peace time and in war time. I would hate to think what kind of country we would live in if we didn't have them.
God bless our troops and what ever mission they are called to do. Keep up the awesome work guys!

It does seem somewhat contradictory. If you don't support the war itself, how can you support the actions involved? I support both personally. though it has been time consuming and expensive to the United States, and our troops and their families. While I firmly believe the evidence that was presented prior to making the decision to go to war was less than accurate, I also believe that with the information the president had, he made the correct decision, and took appropriate action. Keep in mind that we as citizens may not always have all the knowledge the people who we've elected to office have, and as such, can not make accurate decisions based solely on what we know, and have been told in the media. We've put our trust in our elected official, and he deserves our trust as well. Let's face it - it's lonely at the top. And everyone and their brother might have a different opinion of how he should have handled things. It's nearly impossible for us to agree with every decision made, based on individual personalities, as well as the lack of facts that we are given at times. Our own president is certainly much more competent in leading this country than I am. And for that (though not the only reason), I stand behind the war - and behind our troops! And I believe that we will be victorious.

Being recently retired after beng injuryed while serving in Operation Iraqi Freedom, when I came home I did not feel the support of those left here in the US. I know many people "say" they support our troops but when push comes to shove you see these same people in lines that are condemming this war. You can not support only the aspects you choose. The soldiers how are giving their everything may not agree with what we are doing but we are doing our job and doing it to preserve the freedoms you take for granted. Freedom is paid for with the price of blood. There is nothing else that can pay for this and we need to support every aspect of this conflict so we can hurry up and bring our brothers and sisters home. Always support the soldiers, as it has been said, they are just doing their jobs and following orders. No one likes to kill and certainly no one wants to be killed. Try to understand the situations going on over there and how we are doing our damn best to secure a democracy and then come home. It it never over until everyone comes home.

We should always ensure that when America sends her sons and daughters in harm's way, that they are provided with the best equipment possible. And that if that equipment is not available, then we will get it to them without delay. We weren't supporting our troops when we sent them to Iraq without proper equipment and armor, we weren't supporting them when we sent them into Somalia without adequate armor and air power support, and we weren't supporting them when we left them with no food or warm clothes in Bastogne and Valley Forge. In short, America has a history of NOT supporting the troops, and only paying lip service to doing so when the folks back home want to feel good about themselves.
Next time someone tells you that they "support the troops", ask them, when was the last time you sent a care package to soldiers overseas? There are organizations like the USO that exist so people can do things like that, and trust me, it is very much appreciated.

I do support our troops, I was in the ARMY for eight years and I was also in the Persian Gulf back in 1990, so I know what they are going through....sleepless nights, missing family, fatigue, stress, feel like giving up, hopeless but as a warrior you have to over come those barriers and move forward. So now our troops are doing their mission so my salute goes to all you military personnel out there......God Bless You All..........huah!

Yes I support the troops, I was one for 10 years and know that they don't make the decisions, they follow orders without hesitating. They defend rights they do not themselve retain (freedom of speech).

Don't forget that part of supporting the troops is supporting them in the completion of their mission. If you do not like the mission then you need to change the man in charge of the mission.

Our troops should be supported regardless and unconditionally. They did not choose this war, they are doing their duty to the country by fighting regardless of whether they agree or disagree with the politicians who are commanding the war.
They, not our government, are the power and protectors of this country.
