They are accidents. We all have a chance to get in one every time we leave the house in our vehicle. Why are people using those newspaper clippings as "proof" to weigh down their side of the debate? Is it sad when a family or a cop dies, yes. But it could happen to any of us. I would suggest that you come up with another excuse to cover your racism.

This is not against any race or country. It is a serious question. People everywhere know coming into a country without proper documentation is illegeal, and they knowingly do so, no matter if caught or not doesn't that make them a criminal? I honestly am curious how people who knowingly commit crimes can say they aren't criminals? Please use all the effort you can to act as if you were born with a sliver of intelligence.

I sponsored my brother from Vietnam and he came to the US in June 27, but he has not received a green card yet so far. Will he receive one and if yes how long would it be? When my father's sister sponsored him to come to the US, he received his green card less than a month and it was 10 years ago so I don't know if they've changed in the process. Please let me know if anyone has the answer. Thanks.

I'm not sure what I should do, because they really are pretty nice people. But- They have been here longer than they were supposed to be and their visas have expired, yet they don't seem to want to leave. They have loud parties on the weekends, friends and relatives over, and they talk in these loud and annoying accents. They do have good beer, which they are willing to share with me and my roommates, and they do take good care of their lawn and their home, but still... it doesn't seem right that they have stayed here longer than they should have. I think maybe I should make a phone call and send them back to canada where they belong.

So, should I rat them out, or not?

I mean, here we have 40,000 illegal Chinese people who were caught ... deportation was in the air ... what happens? China refuses to accept them back!! Great! So Michael Chertoff says ...well, we can't deport them to China... they won't take them back... so we'd better let them go ... politicians say, well, there's too much at stake with China ... trade and all that, we can't put any pressure on them ... and Homeland Security releases them again ... presumably to merrily roam around the countryside illegally ...all this on Lou Dobbs tonight, so I'm afraid I don't have a link ...

Question: We have the ludicrous Patriot act ... we have the inefficient Homeland Security ...we have millions of illegal immigrants that our administration doesn't seem to give two craps about ... we have the fifth columnists in the U.S bleating about poor illegals, but whose noises and actions help big business to create a permanent underclass .. does anybody have any solution to this godforsaken mess?

Many on here claim that the pro illegals always pull out what they call the "race" card, yet all they ever mention is mexico and illegal mexicans. And when they talk about deporting illegals they are quick to shout "send them all back to mexico" how do they know they are all mexican and not from another latin american country.

We have companies moving south of the border thanks to NAFTA. And we have MILLIONS of Illegals coming up here to take jobs. When is it gonna STOP? How many More Illegals are we suppose to accept? 50 Million? 100 Million? Every single person from Mexico? I'm being dead serious when is enough enough?

To express their racism in them.It is not the peoples fault that their goverment sucks. They come here to work and better themself, they have to in order to send money to their families back home, and also to save enough to bring them here to USA. They already have enough problems and on top they have to deal with your racist A*** offending them, treating them like less and trying to kick them out. Get Over it!! If mexico was a good place to live, they would have not come here, but they have no choice. They need help and if our goverment can't help their country be a better place, than they will have to live here, and Americans need to accept it.

Get over it!! and don't give me the same crap "They are illegal" I don't care. We are not better than them, they are humans too.

Nah, let the poor people go north the Gringos will take care of them, Overpopulation - no problem we'll send them to America. Starting to get the idea? What do you think?

Read all first & only serious answers.

Why can't the Goverment of USA put pressure on the Mexico Goverment to make their country a better place so their people will not run from their own country,I know it is none of our business but when we have 20 million illegal immigrants in USA it becomes our business, and we can't send them to a country full of corruption because they will come back,Bush needs to do something so those people could go back home and stay home. Mexico it's so corrupt. Their goverment sucks, they are very greedy and don't care about the poor. but yet they are some poor people their that do share the little things they have with others, because they know the strugle. Honestly it's hard to explain,I have heard from alot of mexicans that everything boils down to Money & Power, those who have it live good."some say if you have money you have power" wrong not in Mexico, you need both.Because if you only have money, they will steal it from you in a heart beat. kidnapping a family member for ransom,Yes that is one of the most things that happens in mexico "Kidnapings".They do it to actress and actors all the time. They did it to the singer Thalia(Tommy motola wife's) with her two sister, she had to pay big money to get her sisters back..The police over there is useless they are so corrupt and greedy, they will not help you in a emergency if you are poor.Alot of teens don't make it to 20, They are alot of rapist & killers. There is this town that a mother went to report her daughter missing to the cops and they screamed at her and kicked her out of the police station. They are really mean. Not everyone knows how corrupt it is, The goverment here in USA should do something to help them so people won't have to suffer in their own country. But the goverment in mexico tries to look good in the eyes of usa,but it is not good at all,it the most corrupt country,They really need help.

2006 http://www.osac.gov/ and click on Mexico.
It's worst know 2006 Kidnapping for ransom is an established criminal activity in Mexico. Most incidents go unreported to police. Unofficial estimates of kidnapping levels vary wildly, from 600 to 3,000 per year countrywide. In most cases, the ransom is paid and victim set free. The usual victim practice is not to notify police authorities, as the popular belief is that the police may be involved in the crime or certainly are unable to resolve the situation. Mexico City police are widely considered to be underpaid, poorly trained and corrupt. From senior police in league with narco/organized crime elements down to the routine bribes paid daily by motorists, Mexican police enjoy little respect from the general population. Reporting crime is an archaic, exhausting process in Mexico, and is widely perceived to be a waste of time except for the most serious of crimes or where a police report is required for insurance purposes.

So if you think that is dangerous, how do you think USA will be in a couple of years the same as MEXICO,and no matter how manny times they send them back and close the border real good, they will still find a way to come in and who could blame them,no one want's to live in a country so corrupt,USA needs to fix that place in order for them to stay there, and everything goes back to normal here. Because there corruption is starting to cross the USA.
They have been alot of reports in june of illegal immigrants raping young girls here in USA..
USA needs to do something fast.

The criminal justice system in Davidson County failed the late Sean and Donna Wilson. It was a systematic failure, from top to bottom, that cost two innocent Tennesseans their lives.

The Mt. Juliet couple was killed after being struck by an SUV driven by illegal immigrant Gustavo Reyes Garcia on June 8. Court records and accounts from regular Nashvillians demonstrate Garcia should have been taken off the road long before his fateful encounter with the Wilsons.

In an article in our edition today, we document 17 arrests in the last nine years including multiple DUI charges, numerous incidents of driving on a revoked license and even assaulting a police officer.

Perhaps to no one’s shock, Garcia had also been arrested for more than one automobile accident where he struck another vehicle causing injury. In at least one case he fled the scene.

Altogether, Garcia spent less than 170 days in jail during those nine years. It is not a fact that can be placed at the feet of any one department or player in the criminal justice system. Instead, they all own part of the blame – from Metro Police all the way to the Tennessee General Assembly.

Metro Police maintain they simply arrest the bad guys and others in the system decide the offenders’ fate. That is not entirely true. In one key case against Garcia, charges of assaulting an officer were dismissed because police did not show up to a hearing for Garcia.

District Attorney Torry Johnson’s office insists it can only prosecute offenders to the extent the law allows. Yet, time and time again assistant district attorneys allowed deals for Garcia to go free despite what would appear to any average citizen to be a pattern of chronic lawlessness and disregard for the safety of Nashville citizens.

Of course, most of Garcia’s sentences were suspended by general sessions court judges to time already served after his arrests on each incident – a tactic that simply returned him to the street to offend again.

The questions then turn to the system itself. Is it the fault of Metro government for not providing jail cells for the likes of Garcia? Is it the fault of the Tennessee General Assembly for not providing tougher laws? Are generations of Washington D.C. politicians to blame having allowed illegal immigration to become a problem of epic proportions?

The death of the Wilsons and the case of Gustavo Reyes Garcia exposes everything that is wrong with our government, from the halls of power in Washington D.C. to the committee rooms of the Tennessee General Assembly to the streets of Nashville.

The Wilson family, Tennesseans and the American people deserve better.
