This is not against any race or country. It is a serious question. People everywhere know coming into a country without proper documentation is illegeal, and they knowingly do so, no matter if caught or not doesn't that make them a criminal? I honestly am curious how people who knowingly commit crimes can say they aren't criminals? Please use all the effort you can to act as if you were born with a sliver of intelligence.

firstly i wasn't being hateful of condesending to anyone who offers their opinion. I was refering directly to those who lack the ability to conduct themselves with civility. Secondly i am not asking if its right or if they should stay or go. I am not siding either way. But how people can claim they aren't criminals, And no they aren't criminals for life but they have commited a crime. And if everyone is so eager to choose which laws to break would anyone who is for people breaking laws be as ready to let go a rapist who raped someone in your family? No im not for raping and i know there is a different but the facts remain, this country has laws and i wanna know how we think we have the right to choose which ones we follow and which we dont. That is called anarchy? Any thoughts?

The comparison to speeding is perfect. Yes we all have sped in america but how many of us when caught have yelled, "SPEEDIN ISN"T A CRIME" and drove off or protested in the streets how speeding shouldn't be a crime? No when we are caught we pay the price, the price for coming here illegally is deportation but there is the different, yes we all break the law but most of us accept that if caught we'll pay the price....they are caught now but they to cowardly to pay the price for their intentional breaking of the law.

It comes down to the distinction between morality and legality. They do not view entering by any means possible to a country that continuoulsy demonstrates that it has way more than it needs, to be a bad thing. The nation where some individuals receive 9 figure salaries, that wastes food, clean water, space, fuel, and any other commodity that would be considered like gold in other parts of the world. Think how it must appear from the outside looking in: A table with more food than is needed, and you are locked outside and hungry, and told that you can't eat because it's illegal. It would seem to be a criminal act, itself.

But doing something that has been declared illegal has nothing to do with whether it is a bad thing. Driving faster than the speed limit is illegal, but not a bad thing. Are speeders really criminals? On top of that, how much regard can be placed in the laws of a nation who hunts down and sends back the Mexicans who come to work, while welcoming anybody from Cuba who can make it here. The Cubans are breaking the law of their own nation by leaving. How can the USA invite "criminals" from another country, and encourage them to break the law of their own nation? How can such a capricious immigration policy be respected?

But here's one to consider: When slavery was legal in this country, was it criminal for a slave to run away for the sake of his own liberty, and life, and famliy? Should he be judged as a criminal to disobey an immoral law? I think that is how those who enter the country illegally look at it.

It might be different if the USA didn't propagate the "greatest nation on earth" thing with such arrogance and vanity, too.

You and me both....It's elementary....breaking the law makes you a criminal...period, end of story. American children are raised with the knowledge of this instilled into their brains, they all know if they violate a law there's going to be consequences and that excuses don't fly with the judges or the American people. It's heart breaking to hear so many Americans excusing the crime of illegal entry. It doesn't say much for the intelligence of our people. Excuses have not ever justified a crime in America and now it seems that is changing. Our judicial system is being undermined by these American people who excuse illegal entry. Our children are getting the message that crime is excusable, this is regression, Not progression. Can it lead to Anarchy? It sure could, but it won't get that far. Our government has provided a way for themselves to prevent that from ever happening. It's called Martial Law folks!!!!!

I hear your point.

I believe Sheriff Joe in Phoenix (Maricopa County) is now prosecuting ppl who cross the border with criminal charges for what you explain. Maybe that's what should be done on a Federal level. If you get busted - you don't just get sent back home; you'll have to do some time or something.

However, if you had a crappy life and wanted a better one and there was only a fence with a sign in your way.... would you jump it? I would. I don't blame people one bit for wanting to live here. It doesn't bother me that so many ppl come here to improve their lives.

On your side: rules are rules and if you get caught, then that's how the ball rolls. I don't think our country should be a free-for-all either.

I can understand where you're coming from. I do not, however, blame any ethnic factions mentioned in the prior answers who crossed a border, river or jumped a fence to flee unlawful persecution or even genocide for that matter.
Where I do back you up is in the issue of the a**holes who committed the acts of terrorism in the actions of 9/11 and other similar terrorist actions thereafter whom entered our and other countries illegally. WTF is up with that bullsh*t?! I say we just turn their countries into self lighted, glass parking lots and be done with it. These particular people are true fanatics against all US citizens, interests and allies. Gotta admit though, some of our own politicians could use some good ol' a** whooping too! Now I know that nuking countries and beating politicians won't solve anything (especially when there is always some other idiot ready to take their place), but I am just sick and tired of having our own citizens persecuted here and abroad for just being themselves and having their own beliefs. No one, including myself, is perfect but a certain aforementioned faction of a**holes are getting away with too damn much nowadays! Whew! Thanks for letting me vent. USA all the way bay-beeeee!!!

note: This has been an exercise in my Constitutional right to free speech and freedom of opinion. Everyone doesn't have to like it, but they should at least respect my right to say so as they have the right to do the same. Thank you.

I msut be very intelligent because I agree with you.

If you sneak into the country illegally, you know that you are doing it and you know that it is a crime that's why they call it illegal entry. Now when you get caught, you should be sent right back out of the country. You came here on a risk and a gamble knowing you were not going about it the legal way so you deserve what you get when you get caught. I have little sympathy.

It is a crime. No matter how you look at it, entering a country illegally is a crime, just as stealing for food is a crime, even if you are doing it for starving children. If we try to "give them the benefit of the doubt," as someone suggested, then we let our guard down. How do we even do that? We might as well give terrorists the benefit of the doubt and say, "Oh, well maybe they just want to come into our country to see the sites and make evil plots to kill people in some OTHER country."

commiting one crime does not make you forever a criminal. If your 16 or 18 year old daughter stole a hat is she forever a thief? If your son tried pot, is he forever a druggie? They commited a crime. But would the government really catch and release if it was so bad? think about it. The police know most of them are illegal, but dont send them home. Why? Is it because they know that immigration laws are ridiculous and the people are really harmless?

It is like this, do you speed? Everyone is just selfish enough to break the rules when it makes things better for them. Then, because they dont understand why the laws are in place, or dont think they are really hurting anything by breaking them they do not feel like criminals. You are a criminal for breaking the speed limit law, but I bet you dont feel like you are a criminal, do you?
