When carrying out urban renewal activities, most of the people displaced from their homes are the poor masses because they dwell in slums & sprawling settlement that require renewal activities.

The displacement heightens their sufferings and yet one of the essence of such planning activities is to provide a conducive healthy environment for people that will support the standard of living they can afford.

General practice has been to demolish areas considered as slums and rebuild or create resettlemet schemes for displaced persons and so on. And these methods involve hudge government spendings which the government of today, i'm speaking for most developing countries of the third world, cannot afford.

So my question is: What other alternatives can be applied when carryig out such planning activities that will minimise the sufferings of those affected because it almost seems like there is a conflict between what is expected as urban planners and the interest of those affected

Seems the American people are paying hefty salaries to all elected officials and things are not being managed to our satisfaction, right or wrong? (non partisan context)

Since things are getting so objectionable what is there in the Constitution for US to do?

I'm not a supporter of our intervention in Iraq, but regardless of whether you support it or not, don't you think there are more important things the US government needs to deal with right here in our own country? Our education system is in terrible shape, Social Security is going down the drain, the mental health system is failing, and the number of families living in poverty is alarming. I feel it is more important for us to focus on those issues than anything in Iraq. Of course now we have to at least clean up the mess we made, but there should be higher priorities.

What do you think?

Since so much methane is produced by cattle to feed us meat-luvin' Republicans, I want someone to pay me to eat nothing but veggies so he or she can have my CATTLE CREDIT !!!!
That's right, just pay me and you can gorge on meat knowing that you are NOT contributing to the cattle flatulance problem...Al Gore would not pay me for my CATTLE CRED so his loss is your potential gain....

I AM SICK AND TIRED OF HEARING THAT BUSH LIED ABOUT IRAQ. LIBERALS ARE DEAD WRONG AND HERE IS WHY.... (Note that this is comming from the moths of the same people who now are claiming the President lied.)

"As a member of the House Intelligence Committee, I am keenly aware that the proliferation of chemical and biological weapons is an issue of grave importance to all nations. Saddam Hussein has been engaged in the development of weapons of mass destruction technology which is a threat to countries in the region and he has made a mockery of the weapons inspection process." - NANCY PELOSI 1998

If we fail to respond today, Saddam and all those who would follow in his footsteps will be emboldened tomorrow by the knowledge that they can act with impunity, even in the face of a clear message from the United Nations Security Council and clear evidence of a weapons of mass destruction program." - BILL CLINTON 1998

How is Bush's energy policy working out for you? What is it going to take to get real solutions to our energy problems? This is way to big for the common people to fix. The Federal government needs to start working out some serous solutions to our high priced energy........What do you think it's going to take? I think that the half a TRILLION dollars that we spent in Iraq would have been a great start for some serious research!!

the federal government taxes as much as 30% of each persons annual income. the city taxes about 10% of income thus thats 40%. thats nearly 50%. what does the federal government need so much more for, they are not the one building state roads, and state services. thus i believe the federal government should not have the bulk of the money rather states should have more money to fix the state up to grow more sources of revenues thus lower the taxes needed. the state should only give a smaller portion of income to federal government.

Slick willie clinton got a draft deferment by pledging to enter the R.O.T.C at the University of Arkansas then fled to England to become a Rogue, I mean Rhodes Scholar. He then wrote a letter to the Commanding officer of the R.O.T.C. telling him how much he loathed the military. Thats you former commander in chief you liberals loved so much.
