This is a great question, as it is in fact non partisan.
2 wrongs arent making a right.
Bush might have instated policies that are completely terrible, but in this form of government we do have checks and balances.
Democrats should be able to neutralize them becuase its the right thing to do.
That means cutting funding for a war that we shouldnt be in, NOW, not until september when we gamble more and more on an IRAQi government who after 4 years hasnt proven itself ttruly willing to grasp the democracy we tried to give it. Allthewhile our trops die at a new rate of 100 per month
Theres also checks and balances with our people's power as well.
If 70% of america thinks bush is a terrible president - then they should gather together - put pressure on there elected officials and lay the hard line -- "vote to impeach or you will be recalled from your position"
Herein lies the problem.
Bush is one man, congress has 2 sides, and the people are not completely assembled -- or have not been.
The numbers are there, but people refuse to take action on all levels.
Why?
Because they all seem to have their own excuses.
Democrats want another term.
People think its too hard, or too much work pressuring their congressional representatives.
So whos wrong, and what can be done?
Everyone has to do their part to keep the constitution alive!
Otherwise were all to blame.
Long answer short -- theres no true accountability in government.
We are not making our representatives accountable for holding the higher ups in washington accountable for their actions.
Says it all in a nutshell

Way back when, the founding fathers saw that only the well to do could aford to serve in public office -- it required being away from the family farm for extended periods. To try and allow for even the lowliest farmer to participate, they decided that a small stipend should be paid. The key word here is "small."
Serving in public office is SUPPOSED to be an honor and a privilege.
What can we do? Get the lousy SOBs to pass a law requiring anyone whose personal wealth prior to taking office being greater than X amount of dollars, forgo a year's pay while in office. Remove from the system the current seniority based pay (and privileges) scale. Put a cap on the number of years one can hold public office AND (to avoid corruption by influence) outlaw influence peddling by special interest groups. Give them the same vacation time allotments as the military (30 days a year, nothing more), to be taken when and only when the needs of the people have been met. I'd like to see a law requiring all bills presented for vote to be made to stand individually on their own merit -- no coat tailing of special interest projects (in the name of expediency). Lastly, all bills regarding pay, allowances, stipends, perdiems and time off be subject to popular vote by the people -- not the elected officials.

No, you're right. What should we do? Well that's easy, vote the scumbags out. Unfortunately most people vote along party lines no matter what idiot is running, or they don't vote at all and then have the nerve to complain about how things are being run. Right now a politicians main focus is simply on being re-elected. That means doing what will get you votes, not doing what is best for the majority of the population.

No you are right we are supposed to be represented in Congress but it seems as though they tell us what we want and then go and work on their own agendas we shouldn't stand for this and should demand their resignations. It doesn't matter which party both are guilty of this and as long as we sit idly by nothing will change

Well Bush has pulled the veto threat 4 times in the last two weeks. You might want to ask the President. Also if you really want to scream about salaries, look at CEO discrepancies. Now that is criminal.

Unfortunatley we have learned over the past few years that the constitution is more like a suggestion and when mommy government thinks she knows best she turns her cheek on the people.

Congress isn't the problem - at least not since the last elections.
The problem is we have a nut job in the White House who claims to get messages from "God".
THAT is the salary we shouldn't be paying.

i've got seen alot of persons say God hates sinners. i do no longer see how that's in many circumstances genuine, while God has unconditional love for all mankind. Does the sunlight no longer shine on the saved and unsaved? He needs us to get carry of the loose present of salvation to have eternal existence with Him. The very time-honored scripture, John 3:sixteen; For God so enjoyed the international, that He gave His in basic terms begotten Son, that WHOSOEVER BELIEVETH in Him shouldn't perish, yet have eternal existence. once you compromise for that Jesus Christ is your Lord and Saviour, then you somewhat suspect, so then you somewhat want Him and want to do what He needs you to do bearing directly to all factors of your existence. in basic terms pray that he will instruction manual you in expertise.
