well, it would be speculation, but i'll provide a list:
1. To justify going to war with Afghanistan and Iraq too. Without 9/11, we wouldn't be there. What makes war in the middle east beneficial is: oil (building pipelines to the caspian sea), war-profiteering (anyone who denies that this is happening is completely oblivious).
2. To instill fear in the people so that they can pass unconstitutional acts such as the patriot act (the founding fathers would roll in their graves over this....admit) so that they can create a fascist gov't (also known as corporatism). They also suspended habeas corpus (right to a lawyer).... how is that not unconstitutional?
Basically, its about money.....or in other words, control. But don't listen to me, do your own research.

It never ceases to amaze me how easily people are sucked into these stupid conspiracy theories by some blogger they can't see, don't know and don't even know what country they originate from. Give them a few dummied up pictures of something they saw with their own eyes as it happened on tv,(9/11) and they still start yelling "The Sky Is Falling!!!" That's pathetic!!! If they would rather believe that the government imploded the WTC, and don't believe an airplane hit the Penagon, what made the hole in the ground and scattered bits of airplane materials, complete with a black box, in that field in Pensylvania? and what about the people on the ground connected by cell phones to people in the planes? Didn't they hear discriptions of what was going on on board the plane?
They cry that the Patriot Act/Homeland Security is taking away all of their freedoms then buy into a Housing Association where they are told by a committee when they can paint their house, what color they can paint it, what plants they can have in their yard, how many vehicles they can have in their driveways and that you can't fly an American flag and don't ever think of that as signing away their freedom.
9/11 happened. It was caused by the bad guys cause they don't like us. The Patriot Act and Homeland Security are to try to keep it from happening again.
Behave yourself. Watch who you associate with and body-armored Swat teams won't come and drag you out of your house (unless Janet Reno is looking for another 6 year old Cuban kid!)

If the US government killed 3000 of its own people, would you really want to know?
If the US government carried out 9/11 one motivation was to increase the power and authority of the Federal Government through the PATRIOT ACT and the creation of Homeland Security. As it has been said before -- power corrupts. And people in power do what they can to stay in power and acquire more power.
Another motivation would be an excuse to go to war with Iraq on the false pretense that Saddam Hussein had something to do with 9/11.

The 9/11 conspiracy seems to be taking hold of people. And I think when you categorize people as conspiracists then you put a label on them and take away very valid opinions and reasonable theories as to why this attack really took place.
The people who actually hijacked the planes probably had no idea why they really were doing this. They had been well indoctrinated, just like most of us are, as we stay steadfast and firm in our own beliefs and never open ourselves to persuasion.
It could have been done for the leaders of our planet to yield even more power, or it simply could have been Al Qaeda succeeding in an act of war.
If your government were responsible for it, it would not in the least surprise me. The one thing that would surprise me is if we ever found out the whole truth.

I am assuming you are asking why the government would have staged the 9/11 attacks.
It didn't. The attacks were carried out by 19 terrorist hijackers. The only conspiracy other than that of these al Qaeda extremists is the idiots who are putting forward the outlandish notion that the federal government carried out the attacks.
If you would rather believe that the government carried out the attacks you certainly are protected in being able to have such views, but that is rather like buying into the premise that the earth is really flat instead of round.

it fairly is fairly, fairly user-friendly. 19 Islamist terrorist hijacked 4 airplanes and crashed them into the two international commerce center Towers, the Pentagon and the fourth crashed in Pennsylvania. all the conspiracy nuts dreaming up crap approximately this group, or that group, or the different government employer - are a bunch of maladjusted, 40-somethings who nonetheless stay at domicile with their mommies, and fantasize whilst staring at at old classic 1978 posters of Farah Fawcett.

They won't. But these conspiracy theories are not new phenomena. They pop up all the time.
Other conspiracy theories...
Katrina-Some claim gov blew up levy at New Orleans to get rid of poor(black) people.
Oklahoma bombing-Some claim FBI covered up evidence of demolition
Swissair Flight 111- Some claim plane was shot down with missile
Pearl Harbor-Some claim gov knew it, but did nothing to stop it
JFK, Rosewell, VA Tech shooter brain washed and many many more conspiracy theories are out there.

Very simple, get rid of embezzlement scandal papers, get rid of wtc buildings that needed to come down anyway because of asbestos so they did it in a way that taxpayers paid for it, and they had an excuse for the war on terror so they saw it as a way forward to profit all around. The 3,000 dead were collateral damage. Look at over 3,000 dead soldiers now, the government doesn't care about the American people just profits!!!!!!
