1. Dissenting and majority opinions are part of a Supreme Court decision so that there will be a record of the decision. Likewise, the parties to the case, students and other people can know what was the reason for their opinions.

2. There are cases that are predictable when there is a similar case applicable to it due to identity of issues and parties involved. Flexibility comes into play when there are current situations and changes in the legal system applicable that could change the standing application of of laws. The court must adhere to principles but must be dynamic to the change of time.
