I think we have an elastic federalism. Perhaps there are also some elements of mixed federalism but I think it's mainly elastic federalism.

It's not really written down anywhere what we really are. People say we're a Democracy, but I think we're really a Republic.
Or... a Dictatorship. Seeing as the President thinks he can do whatever comes to his mind. Can anyone say a permanent station on the moon?
I'd like to see us move more towards Socialism. It's won't be much different than what we have now. Seriously, it won't. And it'll give everyone a bigger voice and corporations a smaller one.

Actually, America and the whole world is crazy right now. It's inevitable The world, and America is undergoing such rapid and amazing changes that societies can't assimilate and adjust smoothly. About a hundred years ago, we went from horse power to powered flight. Model T to space shuttle. Fireplace to microwave. Right now, America doesn't know what it is.

I was always taught that "America" refers to the western hemisphere, so I don't think there is any ONE way to describe the myriad of governments that encompasses.

Oh boy!!! By the time I answer this, I KNOW there will be a bunch of America-bashers just waiting to jump on the bandwagon of just how much this country is "socialist" or some stupid crap just because they hate Bush and don't know how to vent their hatred in more productive ways.....
Just watch!!!
Oh yeah, when I started to answer this, there were no answers yet ; )
But my true answer as far as the question is concerned is that I really don't know.
*****************************************************************
Ok, it wasn't a "bunch" per se..... but there was already a monkey comparison ; )
