Government - March 2007

What happens when a state governement shuts down? What if there are payless paydays for those state employees? What could it turn into in a worse case scenario? For the residents?? Are there any benefits to this action?I do remember the White House shutdown under Bill Clinton and do not feel it was very effective. But what happens when it happens to a state? Michigan just found out this may be on the horizon.

The King of England allowed Quakers to start Pennsylvania, and Baptist to start Rhode Island and Providence Plantations. In the Declaration of Independence nothing about religious persecution is mentioned. In fact all the religious persecution going on seemed to be between either the non-Christian natives and Christians, or between the several strains of Protestantism practiced at the time.

Are you willing to pay taxes to help smokers stop smoking? People gripe and complain abotu smokers constantly and what they should and shouldn't do. It gets really old. I jusy wonder how many of these same people wanting to outlaw smoking are willing to pay higher taxes so that people will quit.

What are the advantages of both systems in Great Britain?

How are they reflected in the National legislature of G.B?

Since 1990, how has GB become more federal?

With all the fighting going on between both political parties, dose it anger you that nothing to benifit the citizins of our country is getting done. As the demacrates had said before they were elected back into office, they had a 100 day agenda, and they have done nothing to advance what they promised, yet day after day they are hammering on the present adminastration, and constently nit picking, and this adminastration is constently on the defense, they aren't getting anything done ether.

<<"On this very important matter, I would extend a hand of friendship to the president, just to say to him, 'Calm down with the threats,'" Pelosi said. "There's a new Congress in town. We accept your constitutional role. We want you to accept ours.">>

What a tool. She needs to get on camera more often. everytime she opens her mouth she makes me sure I'm right to be a Republican.

If she had a set, she would push to defund the war right now. I mean after all, "the people have spoken."

I fear for the country with Democrats really in charge.

I visited Glenn Beck's site the other day and he had the Communist Agenda which was entered into the Congressional record back in 1963. I was shocked to see how many of the items listed had already come to fruition. Income taxes and Government schools are ideas taken directly from Karl Marx's Communist Manifesto. The manner in which, both the Dems and the Repubs are stripping us of our Constitutional and Civil liberties. The 1st Amend. is under attack. "If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all" or get sued, go to jail . 2nd amend. Thomas Jefferson said, "The beauty of the 2nd Amendment is that they will not need it until until the government tries to take it away." I can go on, redistribution of wealth, political correctness, etc. but I'll spare you.

You two fight like a married couple, regurgitating the thoughtless diatribes of your favorite radio talkshow hosts, politicans, blogs, whatever. Get a clue and form your own opinions. I know crafing an argument beyond "dumb neocon/lib" requires a semi-intelligent thought, but you should really try it sometime- I highly recommend it.

Are you even aware of what your respective politicians are doing?

Domestically, George Bush creates even more bureaucracy with the Department of Homeland Security, No Child Left Behind, and Medicare. He currently pledges to renew the assault weapons ban if it passes Congress- real conservative guy.

Meanwhile the liberals fold like a house of cards to every whim of the warhawks. I do have to at least give them credit for sticking to their age-old agenda of victimizing everyone and providing a government solution to everything, lest a citizen have to think/act for him or herself.

You are all morons. Enjoy your RFID chips.

Well, it is a historic fact that the Joint Chiefs of Staff planned to commit acts of terrorism on American citizens and blame it on Cuba as a pretext for war in 1962. Do you make any connection with this and 9/11?
http://abcnews.go.com/US/story?id=92662- The officail documentation is in the National Archives.

I don't expect to get alot of responses with this one because it is irrefutable and people know how stupid they would look by trying to refute it, but I would love to hear everyone's thoughts. I am not saying this proves anything about 9/11, but with any major event, it is important that one puts it in historical context.

If anybody knows of this answer it would be a great help. I am interested in who were young governors of the U.S. I mean state governors, and not territorial governors. If they go far back then it would be great to know this. It would be nice to know who were some of the young ones far back.
