If you have proper marriage certificate issued by the marriage registrar with you take a photocopy of this certificate, file the necessary form for addition of name of your spouse, change of your name or surname etc, deposit the necessary fee & get the amended passport within few hours only.

Well. No time limit is fixed. You may make an application, in the prescribed form. Follow the progress on line. If there is undue delay, fix up an appointment with the Regional Passport Authority. If things are not moving at the desired pace, invoke the provisions of the Right to Information Act.

In America (which i assume works the same), it would take 10 weeks (as the system is hopelessly jammed with applications).

Mumbai may take less time, but that is hard to say.

It totally depends on the person, if you want to make it fast give money under table & it will be done in 2 working days, & if you like to go like a honest person then it may take 2 days or weaks or more. I suggest give it to a travel agent & he will get it done in a weak.

You need to do it right away. If you wait, they will arrest you for having a passport with an improper name on it.

For change of name, you need affidavit, 2 newspaper advt., advt. of Gazette etc.
Name of not changed in same booklet. Normally new booklet issued in this case. Normally 1 month.

individual capacity, proof of assessment to Income-Tax and actual payment of
Income Tax for last three years be insisted upon, and not merely the payment
of advance tax. However, in most cases if an assessment order is not issued
separately by the Income Tax Department, Income Tax Return stamped by
Income Tax authority can be accepted.
d) All professional degree holders, such as doctors holding M.B.B.S. degree in
Ayurveda or Homoeopathy, accredited Journalists, Engineers, Chartered
Accountants, Cost Accountants, Lecturers, Teachers, Scientists, Advocates
etc.
e) Spouses and dependent children up to the age of 24 years are listed from (b)
to (d).
f) All persons who have been staying abroad for more than 3 years
g) Seamen who are in possession of CDC or C cadets.
h) All holders of Diplomatic/Official passports.
I) Dependent children of parents whose passports are classified as E.C.N.R.
until they attain 24 years of age.
j) Persons holding permanent Immigrant Visas.
k) Persons holding Graduate or higher degrees.
l) Persons holding 3 years diploma equivalent to degrees.
m) Nurses possessing qualifications recognized under the Indian Nursing Council
Act-1947.
n) All persons above the age of 60 years
Note- 1) No emigration clearance is required for visiting Bangladesh,
Pakistan and all countries of Europe (Excluding C.I.S. States ), North
America, Australia, Japan and New Zealand.
2) No emigration clearance is required for persons possessing certificate of
Vocational Training from the Government/ Government recognized
institutions.
