Why Government Works for The Government And Not The People?
Every year at tax time I try to figure this out and I just get upset. We work year after year and pay taxes, social security, etc. To get full benefits,we can't retire till 65 plus to receive them.High ranking government officals can be elected to office for a term, retire at full salary, benefits, and anything else they need no matter what age.You do the math.I've worked since age 14 and i'm now 58,that 44 years of paying social security, taxes or whatever. Its not my place to pay for everyone else.I feel if you work 20 years, you should be able to draw for 20 years.I would like to enjoy life a little before I die.The way it's set up now,by the time you can retire you don't have much time to enjoy.Could someone please explain to me so I can better understand why it's this way.

I don't agree with Bush's decisions to go into Iraq but some people do so I respect their opinions. However I do think Bush has a lot to answer for as he has gone to war even though many Americans didnt want to.

Do you think if he were the leader of a 3rd world country he would suffer the same fate as Sadam? But because he is the President of the US he will get off scott free?

I personally believe (to a certain extent) this is the case.

I hope that our country is able to look beyond his race and foreign policy inexperience. The man is a fresh voice and is concerned about real problems here at home. He will not abandon foreign policy or be afraid to use our military, he just won't abuse it. Our country needs a man like Barack to lead us back to the glory that we once knew.

Regardless of your political preference .... I don't think our president should be referred to as "Mr.", as newscasters, etc. commonly do. I would never call my doctor "Mr.." or "Mrs". This is a title rightly earned. Any one else agree?

Asian-Americans are the richest ethnic group in America. They even have a higher per-capita income than white Americans.

Does the fact that Asians are the most succesful ethnic group negate the need for Affirmative Action programs?

Hispanics are immigrants not a historically marginalized ethnic group, perhaps Affirmative Action should only be limited to Blacks?

If you think about it it's not a free country is it? No matter how democratic the west is, we're still being dictated with Laws and social busy bodies that frown on freedom of expression.

then I just remember there was just an
explosion. It seemed like on television when they blow up these buildings. It seemed like it was going all the way around like a belt, all these explosions
-Firefighter Richard Banaciski

there was a Port Authority cop with us and he said that they were given reports that the second building was going to come down
-- Firefighter Eric Berntsen

As my officer and I were looking at the south tower, it just gave. It actually gave at a lower floor, not the floor where the plane hit, because we originally had thought there was like an internal detonation explosives because it went in succession, boom, boom, boom, boom, and then the tower came down
-Firefighter Ed Cachia

We had to switch staircases. I believe the staircase we were in, there was no way down it anymore on the lower level. There was word that it had been taken out; we don't know what from.
-Battalion Chief Malkin of the Safety Battalion.

And while I was still in that immediate area, the south tower, 2 World Trade Center, there was what appeared to be at first an explosion. it appeared at the very top, simultaneously from all four sides, materials shot out horizontally. And then there seemed to be a momentary delay before you could see the beginning of the collapse
-Chief Cruthers, who is the Citywide Tour Commander

The top of the building kind of started
to rumble, and we all looked up. It looked --
appeared that that first tower, the south tower, had exploded, the top of it. Thatís what I saw, what a lot of us saw
- Father John Delendick

. I thought there had been an explosion or a bomb that they had blown up there
- Captain Michael Donovan

. I should say that people in the street and myself included thought that the roar was so loud that the explosive - bombs were going off inside the building
- Assistant Commissioner James Drury, of the Bureau of Investigations and Trials in the Fire Department

All we saw was a puff of smoke coming from about 2 thirds of the way up. Some people thought it was an explosion
- Tom Fitzpatrick, Deputy Commissioner for Administration

I am a conservative but am anti-war. I don't think the war in Iraq is the best way to deal with Jihad.

I do believe that the White House thought they were doing the right thing at the time but they proved to be amazingly incompetent for not realizing that they were stepping into a Sunni-Shiite conflict.

The war in Iraq will never succeed because of Islam. The "religion" is a political ideology. Sunni and Shiites hate each other more than they hate Westerners.

But, do liberals worry about Jihad? I'm afraid they are against the war because it was started by Bush & Co. but think the neo-conservatives created the Jihadist Myth.

Jihad is alive and real and has been fighting against the West for 1,400 years since Islam was founded.

Liberals... what do you think of Jihad? Should we let a pan-Arab war break out? Should we stop Muslim immigration to USA?

(I know you hate Bush. I know you're against the war. Just let me know what you think about Jihad.)

He's from my home town so i'm naturally a fan of that. I'm neither republican or democrat...I'm a non-voter and I have mixed feelings on George Bush. I know a lot of the things he (Michael Moore) said in Fahrenheit 911 were heresay...I know he stretched the truth and said a lot of things that were probably just gossip, not facts. But nonetheless, i found that movie to be awesome...entertaining, informative, etc. I have a lot of republican friends who actually refuse to watch the movie...do you think it's becuase it would change their mind on Bush? What do you think of his movie? Becuase I couldnt believe a lot of the things that he said....if even 1/2 were true that's just sad. Also, have you seen his other movie, Roger & Me?
