There's been talk of universal healthcare by quite a few American politicians (most recently Sen. Barack Obama). My question is, given the capitalistic nature of the nation we live in, would such a thing ever work in America, or are they really kidding themselves?

If America really values democracy, why was a democratically elected Iranian prime minister toppled and the Shah installed? If Hamas is chosen by the majority of Palestinians to govern them, then why does America question that decision? If America values Democracy why does it have friendly relations with some autocratic regimes like the Saudis while going to war with the Iraqis? The obviously contradictory policies are responsible for America losing respect around the world.

The first answer here says so. How come the weather people never said there were category 5 snowstorms? It must have flattened the whole area then? And how did so many survive to help each other pull to safety if it was so deadly? How many thousand are homeless?

That guy looks so miserable all the time. When he TRYS to smile it looks so fake. It's like he was born without a personality. Tony Blair and George Bush actually have a personality, but Steven Harper needs some prozac. He isn't as bad as that french Chretien, but he's still miserable.

And I am Canadian by the way.

of the word conspiracy? There is sooo much evidence of 9/11 being an inside job it's a joke, but people are so hellbent on avoiding any information regarding a possible conspiracy because it'd put the "conspiracy nut" label on their forehead. They don't do any research, they just "know" such a thing would be impossible. They live in a world where Fox News and CNN tell it all how it really is. I'm fine with people not buying a certain theory, whatever, we each have our opinions. But it annoys the hell out of me when people don't care to even look to find out.

Ok I'm done.

How are we going to pay for it? It is easy for politicians to come up with these grandiose ideas, but I would like to hear from just ONE of them how it will actually be implemented. Obviously, the Democratic view is to use tax dollars to fund it, but at what cost?
